What Ryzom Means To Me....

After being forced from my home in a galaxy far far away...I traveled to many different worlds searching for a new place to call my home.

Alas, none compared to that place from which I came. I settled here and there for a few months at a time, but always feeling something was missing, and eventually moved on, still looking for that special something...that somthing that would hold my interest for more than a month or two. Some where that I could meet like minded people to share my adventures with.

I do not remember how long I traveled be for finding Ryzom, but it was long enough to make me start feeling, well, maybe I am just too god damn old to play these kind of games any more.

I had stopped searching and turned to the TV and reading to pass my time. Then one day, I decided to have one last look at was was available...and I am now so glad I did

Pyrrah, is a little over a year old now...she traveled to Atys just be for the ruins of silan came into being. The first few weeks of her life here, where quite lonely, until one day whilst admiring,the glorious scenery at Zora, she bumped into a friendly bunch of homins, who took her into their family, and made her feel once again at home.

From that day on really...there would be no more searching, no more longing to find that something special...it was found!

I struggled at first with the procedure of making up actions, but through the new family I had found, and the community as a whole, things started to make sense. What I once found confusing, and to be honest a little difficult to get my head round, soon became one of the things that I found intriguing about the game.

I remember the treks, and oh my god, was my breath taken away with the scenery...I could not believe my eyes, I had never seen anything so beautiful. And every new land I traveled to had a unique beauty all of its own. The detail that has been put into the landscape, the changing seasons, the mobs...all of it, I still after a year of playing could quite easily spend an evening admiring my surrounding, where ever I may be, and thinking of how glad I am, that I didn't give up on the gaming world.

Now Ryzom to me, is my second home. Just as in real life, I have a home and family, neighbors, friends and enemies (all though ryzom enemies are much preferable to any real life enemies I have had lol...*coughs* and even some of the neighbors hehe )

But anyways...it is my little haven from all things real life. It is where I can forget the reality of being a mum, a wife, a depended on daughter...and just be Pyrrah.

It is some times difficult to put into words how one feels about certain things, my attachment to this wonderful world is so great, it compels me to try. I am not a story writer, but here, is what Ryzom means to me.

The tale I tell is a little short...But Pyrrah's life here, will not be.

Great posts! Again, I do not envy the judges. Theyre all so good, and I'm not just blowing smoke.

THE SEARCH FOR RYZOM

Tis true that I have traveled far and wide,
Imagination was my only guide.
And every world that I have ever passed
A million and one reflections cast.
The creatures took bizarre and crazy shapes,
The men I've met – unique was every face.
Before my eyes eternal soul itself
Went through a metamorphosis. I have
Partaken in the downfall of kings,
I have destroyed the master of the rings,
I have repelled the might of goblin hordes,
I have invented runes and magic words.
And though I was quite free to place my throne,
I had no home, no friends, I was alone.

But thank the Gods my search proved a success,
Cause finally I chanced upon a place
Where I am whole, my spirit soars free,
For I, at last, have found a family
And friendly faces share my joy and grief
We have our land, ideals to believe
And real foes, whom we can just forgive
And heal their wounds, and let them go in peace.
And every spring the mighty blossom-trees

Ryzom to me is a mystery. And as time passes I uncover new chapters, meet new characters and even learn more about myself here. There is always something to hope for, something to look forward too.

There will always be places on Atys that I have never been to, the things I have never done and most importantly – the wonderful people that keep coming to our enchanted living planet. The magic of Atys seems to draw the nicest and most intelligent players from all over the real world.
And we all know that a persistent world is not just the graphics, game mechanics and the fantasy of the devs it is the real people. They are the ones who breath life into the canvas of a virtual world, they are the ones who shape it’s present, past and future, who determine it’s destiny. Ryzomean players are it’s main treasure, atysian community is the one record in MMO charts that can never be broken. As long as we are here and as long as we keep coming, there will be magic on Atys – the very real magic of a living mystery that is Ryzom…
