I have just learned of this sad news from our old friend Phaedrea.
I am truely devastated to learn of his passing. I will always remember his thick American drawling and deep accent. It totally suited a pirate and he had the most amazing ability to conjure up fantasy in my mind relating to his alter ego.
I remember him also as being an inspirational roleplayer who gave so much to the ryzom experience, and shaped what we now know as ryzom more than most of us will ever know.
He made me laugh and cry (with laughter). I know there will be many people very upset about this as this even brings a tear to my eye. Senny I hope you are ok as I know you were close.
Goodbye my friend it is a pleasure to have known you and I will never forget u.

very upsetting news indeed. my thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
i only really knew Doug as Dever. as Dever i found in him a mentor, a dedicated CSR and a friend. i can't say i knew Dever well as my time with Jolt was only a short one but i will treasure the time i knew him.
a few memories stick out. there was a point in time when Dever had to undergo an unfortunate name change, and so Zontarr was born. zontar was the equivalent of a 1970's Dr. Who bad guy intent on taking over the world. as ever Doug Rp'ed the part beautifully. fortunatly for atys doug's real home was as Dever.
Dever you will be missed

Well as Dever used to say, "Wednesdays are martini night!" So in keeping with his tradition, I will be tipping back a few Margaritas tonight, cause I don't drink Martinis.
Oh I would also humbly ask that this thread please be stickied

its a very very sad day indeed
i knew doug\dever\sixxuxs from early beta
and when i accepted my csr role it was him who stood out in the whole team his attitude and commitment to the events and stories and roleplaying and many many other roles from atys past he would always be there with a cheery hi buckos and pass the grog , many times at fairhaven bar whilst doing CSR work we drank together and had many many fun times his attitude was hed help anyone no matter the cost he was and always be a father figure to me and im hounerd to of known and worked with him and i felt proud when he called me son more than often we had a hard time organising events as teamspeak with him was so so funny and all i can say is
ryzom looses a majour part of its history and a very very dear friend to myself and many others
senior guide lanti / rivendell TNE high officer

Hello everyone,
GameForge have generously given me forum access so that I can post in this thread on behalf of all the Jolt team, staff and volunteers.
We all loved Dever; it was impossible not too. He never refused a challenge, CSRd tirelessly, trained most of the guides on US timescales and wrote and performed in many of the best loved events, while keeping the events team in stitches on Skype.
I met Dever for the first time in Beta, and he joined the CSR team almost immediately as he was such an obvious candidate, good humoured, never known to lose his temper and enthused with a true sense of fun tempered with honour.
We loved him dearly, and I think you the players, did too. A couple of the Jolt CSR team will be attending the funeral and they will let his friends and family know what he meant to the world of Atys both as a CSR and a player.
Atys and real life both, will be drabber, paler places without Captain Dever on board, but we can take consolation in the fact that he will still be rocking them in the isles wherever his final voyage has taken him.

So many fond memories and some of them have me in stitches. Always the one to lend a hand in any task, no matter the size or the kind. Supportive and kind, warm and funny.
We were brothers and sisters in arms in FBT and haunted tryker lands day and night and even fell asleep in the middle of it to wake up to laughter and cheering. And i will never forget when we scared both players and devs/staff inwading Fairhaven with our brand new pirate guild, talking pirate language to anyone we encountered, offering rape and pillaging. All hail the Captain'n!
We kept on beeing brothers and sisters in arms in the CSR team and trained together, sharing the excitement and the good times, and helped each other during the tough ones.
Words are not my strength, but i have very strong feelings and Dever will be sorely missed. I raise my mug of grog! Cheers Dever!
