Absolutly. I know lots of players on both Ari and Cho are happy to help new players with treks, I didn't know that when I started though :)

Okay so if there isn't a hurry to get faction fame missions, when would be a good time? What levels, when would we know it's time to pick a faction? ;)
I wouldn't like to start doing 'quests' in town for the king for example, and find out I've been raising my Karavan fame when I didn't want to.

Well in my case I only recently went kami so I could use the teleports in the primeroots for harvesting. I'm sure there are other reasons though, someone else might be able to share them :p

As for acidently getting fame from missions it tells you what fame it effects when you finish it in the system window but also for kami or karavan it has to be from a kami or karavan, if it was from a person in the city it's most likely civilisation faction and one time of any fame mission wouldn't hurt you at all :)

BTW the mainland is alot less mission driven compared to the Ruins of Silian, you mostly only do them for the fame. Gameforge have said they want to add some more onto the mainland but we will have to wait and see how those turn out.

I'd sum it up as the kami are mysterious beings who respect and care for nature and the whole eco system of the planet and the Karavan are just high tech con artests trying to take advantage of us .... which is why I'm completely unsuited to giving a synopsis of the kami and karavan ;)

You'll be best off looking here in the lore section of the website for a synopsis of both groups and forming your own opinion from that :)

I suspect the lore was what you were looking for, trevdk, but if you want an explanation of how faction affects play, check the faction/race explained thread stickied in this section.

Very nice info there :) . Kami seems to be the faction im going for - and that should go nicely together with my Zorai char. As mentioned in previously posts, i'll stay a little longer on Silan (only lvl 35 in fighting). Say i want to join Kami, how do I do that?? Do I look for a dedicated Kami guild?

The link Jamela posted is a great description of how fame in game works but a quick summary about how it effects guilds is; if your a member of a faction you can only be in a guild that is off the same faction but you can join that guild while still neutral and working towards the fame needed to join their faction.
