Well what was, was. What is, is now.

They own the game and will now do what they want. The vision may be (if we are lucky) close to the ones the orginal devs had in mind, or they could change it to suit their dreams.

I just think it is rude to say, "how long will you give?". You never know they could have a great vision for the game or they could just let the orginal team keep deving it and bring it to a whole new level.

Games evolve and change over time. Things that never change are stagnite and boring.

I say GOOD LUCK New owners and CONGRATS...

I look forward to seeing your vision unfold

Well,

this question is easy to answer: The Storyline of Ryzom is designed for a timespan of 8 years of which 2 are already over. So... gameforge now has 6 years to prove themselves and besides that, prepare Ryzom ][.

Question answered.

The plan was to develop the story that would last 8 years, but the storyline probably never went past one year. It's all in how you look at it... we haven't been on plan in awhile.

Since I already looked at every other games I could a few weeks ago and came back to Ryzom because I found nothing nearly as good I ll give our new company as much time as they need to match the community's desires along with all my trust. I think we all gotta start over starting on good and workable basis.
Plus, as far as I am concerned, I have the feeling it is not only to Gameforge team to make efforts, players have their share of responsibilities regarding the new association.

I too think this thread is very rude and premature. It is only a matter of days since the aquisition and so it is much to early to hassle GF. Especially since we have had Holidays/Christmas in between too.

It will take a few weeks to for everything to settle. I personally hope a good communication channel will be forthcoming in the weeks to come but IMHO it is much too early for this sort of thread.

Good luck GF/Ryzom lets hope you will let us know your intentions in due course. No pressure from me. I'm in for the long haul.

that does NOT mean Leave. It means that after the period of stated you will continue to play but in your opinion if GF havent done anything by then you will think about the possibility of other games.

Also currently 106 people have voted over 70% of the people have said more than 3 months. thats a bloody good thing. theres no pressure over the holidays or anything for GF. means they have till AT LEAST March to 'prove themselves' please note the ' ' s it means that we all will have different ideas (including the guys at GF) of what it means for them to prove themselves. TBH i would be very suprised if GF were happy with NOT doing anything for 3 months.

GOSH! some days!

*feels like screaming*

IMHO despite my issues with Outposts, PvP and neutral nerfs my oppinion is simple.

This game is so good _despite_ the few flaws, I will stick around a long time. It's not "give me new stuff" thats urgent for me, its "dont c*ck up what we got like those poor SWG players suffered". I dont think this thread is offensive (though maybe a little blunt :) ), its informative for both players and Gameforge.

TBH I regard 3 months as "short term" in software development terms. In 3 months we are likely to see only small "new" projects or the completion of larger old projects already in production. Unless Gameforge throws a _lot_ of resources at rapid turnaround and updates beyond whats planned. (Heck, even with Nevrax' staff there, it could easily take months just to get a basic understanding of the setup we have already fully explained to new devs, development with more than just the current staff requires training, acclimatisation etc).

Don't expect Atys to change overnight IMHO, and keep your eye on just how good this game is already.

HOWEVER! Gameforge has made some encouraging and significant steps already. Quietly hidden amongst the threads here on our very own Forums, we see Phelan popping up and speaking. Always nice to have a company rep active on the forums. We see a "Wishlist" thread started by the lovely Shadowweb, I am assuming to gauge player priorities Gameforge, nice to see our oppinions are at least consulted. And of course the game continues to run, stabily, with the CSRs we all know and love (or fear, in some cases ;) ).

If Gameforge continues in this manner, I am guessing that a timeline update of the "in development" page, and a statement to their new customers are the two next things on the list. When everyone gets back to work after the Christmas/New years holidays that is ;)

I am optimistic.

I selected 3 months. That is 3 months of forum checking for updates before I decide to stop looking for major fixes and content updates. Nevrax made a killing off of me (2 paid accts) for way too long for a game that was slightly better than beta. I want to play this game after seeing little or no evolution in 3 yrs (as of this april) I find it hard to pay $15 USD (or $30 USD for 2 accts) when I can play other game for free with less broken features and rolling out more lands/content/patches in a 2 week period than Nevrax did in 4-5 months.

As Mr. B put it: "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice.... eh... umm... the fool me won't get fooled again."

Hoping for change, not expecting it anytime soon.

I like (from the film Lucky Number Slevin - talking about people taking you for a ride) :

My father used to say: "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle."
