It seems more like an exploit than anything, the way it is now. I can run directly away from my target and still fire at it, even though all other attacks require proper facing. The firing animation doesn't even go off, suggesting that it's not supposed to work.

Ah well, if you enjoy prancing around and tickling your enemy it's a perfect system.

I never said I don't want ranged changed at all, in fact quite the opposite.

But that doesn't mean I think the fundamental system should be thrown out.

just abandon your prejudices and pre conceptions about what you think ranged is supposed to be, or what it is in other games, and play it the way it is here.
If every game played exactly the same I would not have crates full of CDs and DVDs under my desk.

In Ryzom, Ranged works as a skirmish tactic, like horse archers etc. It has a unique property relative to other combat modes ingame, so should be used to its strengths, not its weaknesses.

Have you ever tried from first person view?

The animation does go off then.

Reference to your ideas Seh.

250 Launcher owns 250 ele 1 vs 1 :p ...I'd be willing to be that even in 5 vs 5 Launcher would still win... I know in 2 (ele&heal) vs 1(Launcher)... The Launcher will win if the two mages are too close together lol...(This has all been thoroughly tested)...I Don't think damage needs to be fixed on them :p ... But the ammo bulk could use some work :p

The only reason iv never got into Ranged is because I would have to dig/craft to do it :p ...

P.S.-- All Test were done with a master ele(me)In LA, and a Master Launcher(Gurth) With good resist in HA.... Thats when I learned mages couldn't dodge while casting hehe... I had never paid attention before that :p Also all test (with the exception of one test from 60m) were done within mage range. Mage win %=0 lol... Too many failures since I couldn't dodge, And his resist were good.

My take on ranged is that ammo needs the most work... And damage on some weapons(not including launcher).

Of course, 250 launcher should be able to obliterate anything - until it runs out of ammo.

We'd much rather see it be an insane high damage output for a short period of time rather than a mediocre damage output for a long period of time. And, truthfully, I find the current damage dismal for the trouble of the ammo.

And we did suggest ammo revisions- look over the Weight instead of Bulk limiting factor.

Don't want it to become to over powered tho... But I could accept some dmg increase :) I think 50% more then it is now is too much increase tho... Since a launcher with two healers and good resist could easily take 2 healers and a mage :p

From what iv seen ingame, Launcher is the most powerful wep of any type in PvP... A group of Launchers would completely own IMO... lol... If it was 50% higher damage then you could take an OP with a team of 250 launchers :D That would be funny the first time :p and maybe the second lol...

Im not against improvments on launchers, But I don't want to see them become over powered either.

Goodnight :)

If they just bumped up the graphics, say "tracer" rounds every now and then. And then if the dmg was bumped up by just 20%, then range would seem really good. Today, the visuals are lacking, and the damage is lacking, at least for the lower levels.

the launcher graphics work ok, even with effects turned down for an OP battle it was still pretty watching DT drop artillery on the attackers :)

this is game. virtual reality. if something does not happen on screen, it only means that devs have not put proper graphics (animation) in game. most certainly it does not mean that action you taking is impossible.
