I hope you aren't referring to all WoW players. Not all of us are immature or out to belittle other games. Some of us have reached our limits on both counts and are looking for a viable escape.

Not all WoW players are drooling idiots. I've played just about every mmorpg out there including WoW. WoW can't hold my attention for more than a month anymore, but I do like to go back once in a while so I get a reminder of why I like more complex games.

While Ryzom is challenging, never confuse tedium with difficulty. Any game that resorts to tedium as a means of making the game "difficult" will never get my money long. I'm not saying Ryzom does that. I'm just saying that challenging and mind-numbingly boring are sometimes much closer than one would think.

I'm sorry they nerfed the invasion. I was one who posted that maybe doing away with debt while the event was running would be a good way to encourage folks to participate without unduly punishing the lower level folks who can't really contribute directly.

It's easy to respond harshly to someone who attacks something you like, but all it typically does is lower you to their level of immaturity. Unfortunately, they're likely to beat you with experience.

What Ralgur said about the op's native language made me think, and I do feel that an appology is in order to the op if english is not their native tongue! So I'm am sorry for attacking you if english is not your native language but if it is then my statement still stands. I also agree that the manner in which his statements were delivered was abusive and rude no matter what his native language!

True for the most part! Though I'll be glad when my friend gets out of it. He's such an RP newb, so spoonfeeding is really the only way to go for him. I'll have to admit...WoW is probably the worst MMO"RPG" I've found to try out...Endless even kicks it out of the water. If you like the mundane and boring environment, stick with it, or if you're an MMO newb, stick with it. Ryzom will definately not be a very easy experience as far as gameplay goes, and that's one thing I DO like about it.

I have to agree though, WoW is probably the game that has the most immature players...and I AM getting sick of seeing the ingame chat filled up with "OMG WOW P00NS THIS GAME!" and all of the other junk. Somebody please gag the WoW newbs, please! I beg you... (No offense to those who are actually mature and have come from that community...but the number of baby-ish whining newbs far outnumber you...and it DOES get annoying).

I spent a long time in this game, and comparing Ryzom and something like say EQ2 (i dont play WoW lol) is impossible to do, because they both have far different styles.

Yeah, EQ2 has tons of quests to do, and tons of nice features, but thats because its been designed to be that style of game, and its because of those things, you dont notice the world around you as much.

I do miss the alive feel of Ryzom, the community, and the customer support. I didnt leave because the game was bad, i left because i felt i had done it all and seen it all.

Bottom line is, having played EQ2 for quite some time, i can honestly say that neither game is better than the other, because they both have their good points, and their points that could probably use improvement, and they both have their own different goals and playerbase to please.

Please don't lock up the WOW players!!

I myself am a WOW escapee. I've been playing WOW since SWG died in November 2005 (NGE). WOW started off "OK" but lacked so much that I loved in the previous game I played. I stayed in WOW due to my friends, but, at this point all of them have become what I feared, epic driven greedy mindless raiders. I can't get them to do anything just for the fun of it. If there is no "loot" or "gold" involved they don't understand why I want to do it.

I came to Ryzom in hopes of finding the old community spirit that I fell in love with in SWG. I am now on the newb island and yes I'm a bit lost because I'm so used to looking for a quest person that I FORGOT how to just roam around and discover new things. Sad isn't it??

But after awhile I discovered how to forage, I then found a mission and killed my first yubo..hehehe, so I'm learning, and at my own pace. From what I'm seeing on the forums I'm going to love this game, the idea of being what I want without being put into one box or another is wonderful. I'm excited once again to login to a game, where with WOW I was starting to dread it. Unlike my friends I am not able to sit at the computer for 4-6hrs to do endgame raids. Ryzom doesn't ask me to dedicate that much time if I want to play 4-6hrs I can, but if I can't I can still login and have a good time. Not to mention that there seems to be a large roleplaying community here, something I've missed SOOO MUCH! I just hope I find that community soon. I long for a good RP guild.

Just my two cents on the subject. This game is a breath of fresh air. Yes you need an open mind and yes you need to think for yourself. Isn't that the whole point of playing a game?? I thought so.

On a different note, anyone able to point this new player to an area of the forums that describes how and when you can start to heal yourself? right now I have to sit in between each kill, not necessarily a bad thing, but it does break up the rhythmn of my combat. Thanks

Hmmm...I haven't run into a spell where you can heal yourself...I think it's more of one of those skills you can use once and then have to wait for a few minutes to be reactivated again (don't quote me).

However, if you play on "Arist" = the older English server, Uyare makes her rounds and heals people without them asking. It is her "purpose". If you're in Cho, gotta find you another healer...I think the whole point is to inspire groups, one where healers can take part. As I said, seek out Uyare, and flag her down when you need a good heal. She'll be on newb island for awhile (whenever I play...I'm getting ontoday sometime...hopefully...) so yeah...She's not going anywhere anytime soon!

So I was right...it's a skill where you have to wait long after to reactivate... I like this idea (as it means that more people like Uyare wil be highly sought after), but it's terrible for solo-ing...unless Uyare randomly happens to stumble upon you.

Thank you Zanthar, and Skeith8. I guess i'm still so low that I have yet to unlock that "self heal" icon...it's still greyed out for me. I just hope finding a healer is not a big issue. As for grouping, I guess since I'm new and on newb island (Cho server) grouping isn't something people do at this low a level. Someone did run by yesterday and healed me, I did say thank you but I don't know if they heard me or not, they didn't respond...hehehe. It is just a matter of getting used to I guess. But see, already I'm getting answers here, not rude comments back like the last game I played. Thank you all.
