Yes. I am positive that spires will be used to try to recover outposts that the Kamists believe should be theirs. Karavaneers having to spawn in Zora or Pyr before running back to Void or Malmont Farm, for example, will make a difference.
To those that are worried about the possible effects on the community, please don't forget that if we don't like the limitations that spires will make then we can simply choose not to summon them. We can can them if we want to. I don't see that happening, but I would not be surprised to see many regions remaining neutral and open to all until there is something to fight over, such as an outpost. Choosing not to summon a spire at every opportunity will make those that we do summon that much stronger.

The opposite will be true as the effects of the spires will be cumulative so the more spires your faction has the greater the benefits and the more territory you control the harder it will get for the opposition to reach your spires.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see this community refusing to summon even a single spire but that won't happen. Like it was with outposts, the minute Spires hits the server people will rush in to get as many spires as they possibly can...

Unlike outposts, however, spires do not switch ownership, they are destroyed. Then created using honour points won by PvP actions. Their benefits only accumulate so long as they are in adjacent regions, and their hit points are distributed equally amongst all owned by a faction, so there may be excellent strategic reasons not to summon a spire at every opportunity. It may even be advantageous for players to have alts on the other faction to destroy the spires they no longer wish to hold.

honour points have been disabed for ages in PvP action, expect a watered down version, ie outposts without the pvp timeout

considering that honour points are currently inactive that might prove to be a bit of an obstacle though probably a minor one...

Xavier wrote:3] Summoning a Spire
During a faction war, factions can create a spire on each base. It will give the control of the region to the faction which has summoned it. Once the spire in place, the region is considered as belonging to the faction owning the spire. Active altars and TP tickets in the region are only those of the faction who took control over that region.
To summon a spire, you will have to spend faction points gained by killing enemy players during faction wars or by destroying opposing spires. Faction points are centralised on a global pool.
There are different kinds of spires with different effects (regeneration rates, characteristics, power, etc.), and unique spires (with a effect on resists, dodge/parry, etc.) available for the faction owning the most spires in all territories.
Each spire has many HP and a very high regeneration rate. There is a fixed global amount of HPs for all spires, distributed among all of them – the more spires you own, the less HP each of them has, thus making it increasingly difficult (corrected by Jam

) to defend them.
Sorry, I should have said faction points

hehe not trolling but has anyone ever made a poll asking "do you want spires?" and what were the results?
