Personally, I would hate to see the nature of how things start now change to make a few players happy. I do not mean to sound offensive or abrasive here at all, but I have played far too many games where developers cater to as many players as possible, regardless of what the results. EQ2 is a good example of developer overaction to player requests.

The simple fact of the matter is that the world was designed the way it was for a reason. It is supposed to be a challenge to make it from one area to another. It is part of the lore that various races have enough tension to keep them semi-seperate, if players were able to choose Matis and start in the Fyros lands, it wouldn't really fit the lore and description of the Matis people. It would also lead to players becoming used to the ease of cultures mixing well and request further concessions from the devs to make life "easier".

In the longview, making it easier to travel between lands removes a challenge to the game, as well as move away from the backstory/lore that I find so very interesting. It will begin to water down some of the challenges, and that would be a dissapointment to me.

Just my 2 cents, but I like it the way it is.

Trekking isn't a bad thing. Being "forced" to trek isn't a bad thing. It is not a waste of playing time. Instead of grinding your levels on yubos or whatever, you get to see some cool scenery, mobs, teamwork, etc. Whatever you would've been doing otherwise is probably much more wasteful than a good ol' trek.

Exactly, on a Trek you "live the Adventure".
Wich is part and parcel of an MMORPG, or isn´t it?
What´s the use of hours of grinding with your freinds if you don´t get to know the World around you?
And nobody forces you to trek with "High-Levels". Why not try it on your own?
Wit sufficient patience, numbers and a good sense of Adenture, you´ll manage, like we all did back in the days. :)

So, I don´t see any Problem. Just solutions ;) :p

This is a new issue, that came with Ruins of Silan. Many of us older players forget how it can feel like when you take the first steps into an unknown world - and now even torn away from friends made on the isle.

One solution could be adding a cost to other teleport races' towns from Silan. Dappers or fame?

What I would be really interesting is to remove all Teleports from the mainland and make mektoub caravans necessary to make business with other lands.

great on paper, and personally would love to see that sort of dynamic event happen, but would be exciting for a day or two then stressful. Better to make certain things/itims transferable only by homin and not by teleport, *goes into dream world: new items, too large to pass though the teleportors of atys, maybee building materials and components for outposts such as defensive tower parts (like seen in the precious devshots when outposts where previewed), defensive/offensive cannon parts. New personal farm supplies/plants to grow own buffs/flower plantations etc (matis agriculture based). similar things for the other lands, fishing/vodoo/barbeque :p .

erm sorry going so far off topic i`m off the 250m compass, just gimme that well thing, i`l be happy ;)

I think there should be a big neon sign in the character creation screen background :

"Refugees from all races start together on Silan, but on the mainland they are dispersed each to the capital city for their race. Travel between the capitals of Atys is extremely hazardous."

A trek is no trek without danger, death, despair and finally exultation having achieved only half-way; it is a picnic :p

I believe Ryzom Ring will allow friends from Silan to play together without having to make the trip between capitals. Ring portals outside each capital will allow access, I think, to any active Ring scenario regardless of the setting.

This is a interesting thread.

Only cause I find among the new players they seem to think everything needs to be handed to them. Must be other games are to easy.

I love Ryzom just the way it is.

Ah the memories of gfunk's treks. When 50 of us would try to make it from Matis to Fyros. when we would get in sight of the portal and die.
It was such fun. such danger, such beauty. Virginia Falls is wonderful place to sit and rest. If you can make it :)

ahh the portal there where all the kinchers use to be. Sending out bait to run them away to the right so we could go to the left. Much to easy now days.

Treking is one of the best parts of the game. To explore to see the beauty.
I know I for one will drop what I am doing and go help on a trek. No one has to ask twice.

Love looking for NPC's when I have no idea where they are. It adds fun to game.

Sorry your friends left, but that was their decision. Should have been more patient. There are other people that will team with you. Play on Skype, TS, Vent. you can talk and die together even if in different lands.

This new starter Island I love. I have made 2 alts. There is so much more information and goodies to get on the new one. I was so lost when I started. Be glad the new starter is like it is.

Anyhow next time you want a trek ask in region if my guild or I am on will gladly take you on one.

oh Welcome to Ryzom
