For the edification of those you have NO CLUE what we're talking about, "Yankee" originated as a derogitory term applied to the inhabitants of the original 13 colonies in what is now the US of A by the British (and to a lesser degree the French) during the struggle for identity that eventually led to the Declaration and War for Independence.

Later, the same term was used to refer to inhabitants of the Northern States (e.g., "Damn Yankees" aka "Bluecoats") by the inhabitents of the Southern "Confederate States" during our Civil War.

It wasn't until WWI that the term "Yankee" began to be commonly used to refer to all citizens of the US of A, and typically got shortened to "Yank" (probably by Hollywood).

lol I was amazed how long that went uncorrected :)
To be fair, since it was popularised around the time of WWII I think the name has nothing of the insulting nature that it did originally. IMHO.

Fine by me, I don't like tea.

One day we'll be back and it'll be like the day after a teenager's party.

And I'm sure the UK is one giant forest with 1000 year old trees where bears and wolves still roam and eat unsuspecting children.

we turned it into a world super power that essentially helps run the world (or hinder it depending on your point of view)?
I'd say the same about the vast English Empire... woops, old habit... England, but, yea... :p
