The worst that I've seen, by a very long way, was Lineage 2, and it's very easy for a game to go that way if even the tiniest amount of leniency is given by the gm's.
Within a year of the official launch, every single decent area (which also meant every decent quest area, since quests gave decent rewards) was literally overrun with gold farmers who would nuke you on the spot (as it was open PvP) if you tried to play in "their" area. If you attempted (even with guild help) to run them out of the area, they would get all their sweatshop colleagues together and slaughter the lot of you. It made the game completely unplayable and was the most irritating environment I've ever experienced. The starter villages became completely deserted because new players simply had no chance of progressing.
If these people were reported to the gm's, it seemed the gm's couldn't "prove" they were gold farmers, and therefore did nothing about them. Dozens of us reported the same characters day in, day out, but they were just allowed to continue their farming and griefing. They had the same rules as Ryzom regarding selling in-game stuff for RL money, but they completely failed to enforce it.
2 years later I see from a recent L2 review on mmorpg.com that nothing has changed and it was given a very low score for the community aspect of the game as a result.
Don't let that happen here please, if there's even the remotest sign that the farmers are coming, jump on them instantly. Trying to enjoy a game whilst competing against farmers is impossible.
Admittedly it's infinitely easier to make money in this game and there are no "quest areas" that give lucritive rewards, but they could still camp all the boss mobs and best harvesting areas making it impossible for regular players to get the best materials.
In the end though, the best deterrent is not to give them a market for their services in the first place. If you ever see a legitimate site selling Ryzom money or equipment online, don't be tempted, you'll just be shooting yourself in the foot in the long run !

I have no doubt that the live support team would jump on this within a minute of being notified.
Last night I was hunting in an area and observed a player pulling mobs from an apparent perch. I say apparent as I really couldn't tell if they were exploiting the terrain or not. The mob pathing looked suspicious but I left that call to the Guide who was on at the time.
A tell I sent was responded to within 30s. They ported to me. Observed and then it appeared the perch was cleared out. Dunno if the wrath of the Kami blew them away, the guide ported them to the closest spawn point or what, but the situation was dealt with both professionally and in a very timely manner.

Thanks for the heads up. I can't stand people who use MMORPGs as venues for making their money and ripping people off. I have never been a victim, but I know someone who has, and it makes me so angry. I hope you continue to nuke them! I don't want to see Ryzom players fall victim to such scum. Especially since I've just started playing this game and enjoying myself! I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for sure. Again, thanks for the heads up.

Hi all. Im glad to say that the Ryzom community as a whole is pretty on top of dealin with people like this. Im a new player (first week with pay account) and this is a constant problem in most RPG's. Just read a post on MMORPG.com about a player whining about his name being changed because it was too close to Nevrax (or however the company is spelled lol), and kudos that those that look out for this kind of activity to stop scammers from exploiting noobs and their accounts.
Re: Don't fall for it - a word of warning
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe most of the 'Chinese' Farming sites are based in China, hence the name.
If anyone can persuade the Chinese Government to give a monkeys about capitalism, I congratulate them, but without the support of the Chinese Government no one is shutting those sites down.
The *only* way to stop this practice is not to buy the services in the first place. As long as they continue to have customers, and to make money, stopping them will be like trying to dam Niagara falls. Its up to us, not the GMs and Game Devs, to put a stop to this practice, by not using it (or, as I said, the Chinese Government!)

You thought Trykers could be housetrained? Their homeland used to be a desert, that's how hard they are to housetrain.
