I know a few that left I was close to and the only way I knew they were leaving was because the forums because our playtimes had changed and we never saw eachother ingame...

TBH isnt it ppls own opinion whether to post a goodbye post or not, i know when i played regularly, it frustrated me ppl slagging off the game and posting long goodbyes. However the ones that post goodbyes usually add their reasons for leaving, at least giving opportunities for issues within the game to be adressed.
Also its good to know why all those lights on the friends list never come on
