What's wrong with using another skill? Or meeting someone else?

I think that was answered earlier in the thread... You end up using skills that you don't particularly like (or don't suit your character concept) simply because they happen to be the 'right' level

.

I am new to the game... well pretty new. I was all the time thinking something went wrong in this game that so many ppl seem to have left the game. Until now i wasnt sure what it is... and seeing now that PvP was or is the reason i wonder why. Every MMO has PvP elements... without those elements i wouldnt touch an MMO personally. I wonder how mass pvp looks cause thats what i am looking for.... creating / beeing part of a successfull pvp team is one of the best things you can do in any MMO. Beeing a PvP'er for many years i cant understand the reason why and how PvP ruined the game for others. I mean its not even forced pvp or is it ?
Really would like to hear reasons how pvp can ruin the game for someone...
On the other hand it would have been smart to make a pvp and pve server maybe ? But guess for that the community isnt big enough...

for 18 months this game was PvE only, the reason people were here was because it wasn`t one of those "every MMO", now it is. In those 18 months everyone was friends, overnight people were expected to nuke your friends and now call them enemy. Its been a hard thing to adapt to.

That wouldnt have been entirely true about 8 months ago naib73, City of Heroes went almost as long as Saga of Ryzom without PvP, (not even 1 on 1 Challenges), and even then they only brought it to CoH to pave the way for City of Villians.
*appolozies to all if this breaks any of the CoC for the forums, mentioning CoH or CoV at all in this manner*

Yeh as Scarazi said, its been kinda hard adjusting to it. Least for some of us.

That pretty much sums up what a lot of people don't like about it. The maturity level (while still higher than *some* games) of the community has definitely dropped since EP2 IMHO.
To Naib73, there are at least 2 up and coming MMOs that have no PvP at all, so that isn't strictly true. Since you are new and enjoy PvP you should have a lot of fun with the game. Just accept that some of us don't and we'd prefer it if you* didn't 'inflict' it on us and spoil our gaming. By this I mean the childishness that sometimes seems to accompany it (taunting and moaning in region chat) and the stuff that has been going on in Yrkanis and Dyron recently (attacking crafters and afk players - general ganking).
The PvP and PvE servers would have been a good option if the population were higher. It isn't, so it isn't (if you follow me!). However, when PvP was first added during EP2, it was restricted to the 'Old Lands' - PvP only regions. To me that would be a better option than making PvP world wide. Then you could all PvP each other to your heart's content without affecting the gameplay of those that don't like PvP.
* not you personally, just anyone taking part in PvP.

as bad as it is (ganking), i'm glad that this is happening with PvP lovers/tagged players and they see the bad things too that PvP brings
it's good that it's not "hidden" in one corner of Atys too.
ohh, and when spires come out... i think i can't stop laughing... muahahaha
be very careful what you wish for (yeah, goes to me too)

Ok i should have said.. almost every MMO has PvP... my mistake.
I also understand now what the problem is, this community wasnt ready for PvP... and i wouldnt be suprised when some pvp features are still weak atm.
But again i have questions.... Trashtalkers end up on my ignore list... no matter which game and i saw its possible here too... any problems with using it ? Can you make chat logfiles to use em to report players ? The other thing is... crafters and afk players that get ganked or something... sorry were they pvp enabled then ? Cause if yes... then why do they complain about beeing ganked ... or attacked when crafter ? PvP in MMOs is always about ganking.. outnumbering... nothing wrong with that. Winning outnumbered can be a blast.
Well anyway thanks for answers... this is a pretty big bummer for me. Cause now i feel like a new player that is not wanted here .... because i like PvP and PvE ONLY would bore me (even tho Rzyoms PvE is one of the best i have seen so far).

Yes you can put people on your ignore list, no problem with that. You can also make chat logs - IIRC the command is /chatlog. I'm sure one of the chat log experts will confirm it.
That's one of the biggest debates regarding the PvP tag - is anyone with their PvP tag enable when crafting or AFK 'asking for it'? Well yes I suppose you have to say they are. HOWEVER, a group of players attacking a single crafter is an act of a person without any honour (I am Fyros - honour is my watch word

), it's pure COWARDICE.

No, no no, please don't feel like that. You are most welcome on Atys. If I have made you feel like that thenI apologise. All I am trying to say is PvP is now a fact of life on Atys. All I am asking is that those who enjoy PvP spare a thought for those that don't before engaging in their trash talk and such.
Welcome to Atys, I hope you truly enjoy your stay, whatever element you enjoy most.
