i agree, nice to read a plain summary. While i was unable to be there (i may have been frustrated if i was there), looking at it now it does seem to be a drawn out prelude to something big. Homins should not be upset that it wasn't a large game changing event..after all when you trek a new player to somewhere you can port to easily you don't complain, and the rangers did merely ask for a trek to a dangerous place ;) . Seems to me this is a build up to something they have planned and are trying to include the community in the build up so when the actual event hits everyone knows what is going on with the story.

To Devs: thank you for the time to add build up in advance to whatever it is you are planning, and i hope it rocks atys :)

Considering that the guild of elias is seeking tech/secrets to thwarts kami/kara (in the name of homin- but so do kami + kara), It would therefore be a logical conclusion that only those sympathetic to elias would assist in the trek. And that kami + kara would either not take part, observe or hinder or did i understand the 1st part of the event and the motives of the operation wrong?

Homins,

Here is the first message received from the Guild of Elias:

Greetings from below Atys! The expedition is in good spirits and has penetrated the first layer of roots into the deeper roots. The topography and life is much as we expected though light does not pierce down here at all.

The shafts of light penetrating from the upper levels in what we call the 'Prime Roots' were very comforting, we only appreciate that now as we descend deeper and lose all contact with the surface. Many kitin are seen here, mostly the calmer more herbivorous kind. Working the landscape and gathering for the hives. We are able to move virtually unhindered save for the usual predators.

Our scouts believe they have found paths to go deeper still and so we proceed. We are all in good spirits and hope all is well upon the surface.

*Confused* Why would someone that is dedicated to either cause enough to activate their tags even accompany them on this trip given the stated purpose?

Seems to me after reading the summaries that this event is for those neutrals that directly oppose both the Karavan and Kami. I understand there are some faction aligned homins that are just doing it for the TP's, but are those same homins also activating their PvP tags? That seems odd to me.

If anything, they should have created temporary pvp tags for the neutrals so that Karavaneers and Kamists could have attempted to halt this event in a way that was consistent with the story. Or activated that region as open PvP, maybe?

I agree... they are not thinking far enough ahead in these things... They invite but not require non-affiliated folks without a venue for those who intend to stop it to act.

How are we influencing the storyline if we cannot do anything ?

Any Karavan supporters who attempted to stop any participants from assisting in the Ranger mission were doing the only thing possible to SAVE, yes I said "save", the people of Atys. Like most humans, Elias Tryton forgets to think things through and only looks at a possible end result that suits his needs. He doesn't understand what it is he does and if he did, he probably wouldn't need to go to the deep roots in the first place, because he'd have what he needed to gain in the ranks of potential world dominators. What better way to remove his potential competition than to schmooze the local inhabitants into doing his dirty work for him?

The Karavan and Kami already do that...so far, I haven't seen much that makes Tryton different from them. He opposes them, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's for homins.

Homins, I bring you the second report Nicho has received from his guild. It seems slightly scrambled..

We have n*ticed, of late, that the*e are two Kitin fol*owing us. They move back out of range w*enever our guards *pproach them, but they are definit**y follow*ng us. We never get a clear enough look to id*ntify their 'breed' but it is my be*ief that they are *inchers. Kinc*ers of a great and p*werful type seen only rarel* above this level. Their beha*iour shows an *ntelligence we do not often credit the kitin with, they seem to be foll**ing us, kee**ng a mark on us, for what pur*ose I don't know. If they ga**ered their strength we could be rushed, I am sure of it. Kitin ac**vity as we wend our way deep** seems more v*ried and complic**ed also. There is be**viour that I do not reco*nise or unde*stand besides the usual **raging and gath**ing a*tivities. Small kitin scu*ry between the la*ger groups and oth*rs engage in active*ties that may be well**apping or o*her behaviour. I am s*eculating. We have come under a few att**ks now and the pr*valence of com*ative kitin is much h**her, ma*ing our pre**nce slow*r. Still, no*hing we can't han**e so far. I long to feel the sun wa*ming my sap again, but we have to press on.
