Hi all,

My baby Matis is just about ready to trek out from Matis Island for the mainland.

Out of curiousity I did a /who a couple of times today. Once I got 8 names and another time 9. I also got a 6 and a 5. This was at various times during an afternoon and an evening session on the U.S. west coast. I don't have an exact count, but I am certain that there were over 12 unique names listed at some time during the day.

Not sure, but Ryzom may be benefitting from the abysmal failure of SWGs New Game Experience.

The NGE is only a failure if you look at how the players feel ... it's not like SOE does that.

fabled wrote:Hopefully... I hope they didn't go the Asheron's Call 2 way but I think this game could be a late bloomer also due to their bad decision/timing to launch the game at the same time with the biggies like WoW, EQ2, Guildwars. I think this game would be more populous once people got tired of WoW/EQ2/GW and start migrating here (like me). Also, if it were up to me I would set up the npcs to give specific quests instead of an npc that gives random collection of tasks. People don't like to do task (it feels like a grind), however with a proper storyline to go with quests it makes the game a lot better.

Game suggestions (hoping the devs read this forum):

* Change the NPC task system, currently the npc gives out a menu of task to do which detracts from the game's immersion greatly. Instead NPCs will give out specific quest with a tied in storyline based on the person's highest fight/magic level. Completing the quest will earn the player some dappers, faction points, specially items, crafting materials (much like Asheron's Call's system). Quality is always better than quantity.

* Add dialogue speeches to Tribal NPCs when reacting to player faction. Really.. it adds soo much immersion into the game when NPC tribals run dialogues like "I smitee thee in the name of the Karavan and the great goddess Jena you dirty Kami bootlickers!" What I am seeing now is NPC sees you and without a single word they blow the day lights out of the player.

* Triggered special events like if you start a certain quest it will start a tribal invasion event which requires you to defend the tribal chief from death. Or say you can take the tribal chief's head strong daughter out for a special date which basically is an npc escort quest and you must protect the chief's daughter from the nasties of Atys such as preditorial animals and bandits. If you suceed then you'll earn the tribal chief's gratitude and if you fail.. then shame on you :P
There were supposed to be quests like that.
They were supposed to be called rites
Unfortunately they are half done/bugged/in the pipeline.
Dont give up hope though, ive been waiting a year and a half for them it cant be much longer......
