This action does nothing but prove to me Nevrax has not even attempted to put together any policies for consistant enforcement of rules as well as conduct in game. You've stated "history" and again knowing the history of some of the people involved it is not consistant treatment of all people. Again there seems to be random punishment given out unless you factor in favortism and personal vandettas.
The most ludicrious thing is your banning people from forums for posting opinions.
Its obvious that people giving opinions that would give a reader a negative impression of the direction of the game are being banned. I haven't known grimjim in game but his post always seemed to attempt to discuss things with facts and in a logical controlled way. Lathan I have known in game and is a kind and intelligent person. The bannings of these people for their thoughts and opinions on the forums is nothing but extreme damage control on Nevrax's part for the public disaproval of some players of the game.
Lastly lets all remember exploits such as botting brought a verbal warning then a 24 hour ban. That is a pretty clear indication that Nevrax's needs to rethink their policies and redirect their resources.

I must say that I am shocked, dismayed and severely disappointed in this. Our community will be much the poorer for this kind of policy and implementation.
I thought we had a great community, now it is ruled by fear of a capricious and arbitrary decision, thereby silencing many, either totally or partially. That is no community at all.
Heart-fallen,

*Edit: I was going to mention the disparity with the botting punishment but didn't, but after reading sinful's post, I will just say: I agree with Sinful's pointing ouf of the illogical prioritization and penalization of infractions.

Personally, I've been more fearful of the forum-going community than anything Nevrax has done. It's been that way for a long, long time and it looks like it will continue to be the case if people genuinely don't understand what has been going on in here.

This is indeed a sad state of affairs. It would appear that those who disagree with anything said or done by Nevrax will be banned from the forum. To be consistant this should be applied to about two thirds of us here since this is about the proportion of us who have been disgruntled by the actions of Nevrax and have said so in these forums.
I will refrain from continuing along these lines lest I be banned as well; my reason being that, if I and other like minded members are banned, there will be no one left to point out the obvious mistakes being made.

No, I have already stated it - the goal is NOT to prevent you from posting your opinion, either negative or positive, targeted at us or not. We would shoot ourselves on the feet if we did that - how would we know what's bad and needs fixing in Ryzom?
This is really related to the way it's written; you could for example think that there has been too much focus put on PvP lately and be bothered by it since that's not your cup of tea. And you can say it of course. But, afterwards, there is a difference between stating "Raaaah, PvP again! Enough is enough! How can you do such a thing? Can't you listen to what we say?" and "I'm worried by all this PvP thing; I would rather have something regarding PvE; for example, I have been missing this and this...".
This is the same thing as in real life; only fools don't listen to negative comments - but you can't be harsh with someone without risking a fight.
And that's even worse in a group.

Well, I´m so brave to risk it: You already did that. In one or two ways.... Now you have to live with that.
It´s easy to start a revolution, but its hard to stop it.
In germany their is a proverb: "Die Geister die ich rief werd´ich nun nicht wieder los" ( The Gosts that I called arn´t going off me )
I Think the same is startet here....

I agree with Delphi, flaming people on the forum is much worst behavior than anything that occurs in Ryzom PvP.

From what I've read of his posts, the latter part is primarily how Jyudas has presented himself.
Aside from that, people are angry. That much is clear. Although their expression of anger may at times need to be more civil, I do not think that it should necessary for people to pretend they are not upset. I also believe it is more important to address the reasons that some of us are so angry, and it's questionable as to whether or not this is being done.
A new player's opinion.

I believe the suspension of Lathan was unjustified, that Nevrax should reverse the suspension, and that Nevrax needs to take corrective action in terms of how the policy is written and enforced.
In addition, I should like to see a third party (as in, someone other than those whom are responsible for enforcement of forum policies) investigation into all recent suspensions.
I would also like to see a public apology on behalf of Nevrax for any suspensions found unjustified. I believe that, while it may be a bad marketing strategy to admit you are doing things incorrectly in public, it is far worse to deny or hide them -- people find out eventually.
Everything stated here is of my own personal opinion regarding the enforcement and wordage of the forum policy against "trolling" and "flaming" as explained by the policy itself, the Nevrax representative Xavier, and the opinions and evidence set forth by participants in this thread. I understand there may be details unbeknownst to myself that might change this opinion, but until said details are made known, I have no choice but to further my current stand on this issue.
