I'm not bashing your decision to leave, holstad. I'm thinking about it myself too (for different reasons). Just take care what you base your decision on though.

In one of your posts you are asking when these changes will come, 'before Christmas?' and then a couple of posts later you complain that they are rushing content out without testing.

You can have content live quickly or you can have it more well tested. To ask for both is simply asking for an impossibility. For every week of more testing you want to ask for, you must accept another week of waiting before it goes live.

For those that dislike PvP, being told that their option is to either participate in PvP or sit out of the first major event like this after so many months is a very bitter pill to swallow.

I think had we been experiencing a constant stream of content such as this since release, some of it being PvP and some of it not, the tone of the boards right now might be drastically different.
Ah, I definitely understand better now. It's all new to me, so it seemed like such a small part. But, for many (most?) of you guys, it's the only thing left.

What's the policy for character persistance here? IOW, if you cancel for a six months and come back, will all your characters still be waiting for you (like in most other games)?

That might be the best option for folks upset -- just take a few months of a break. That would let the company know how many are truly upset and gives you folks some time to cool off rather than getting riled up every time you log in and don't see what you want to be seeing.

The bad side would be if it killed the whole game, but there's not a lot we can do about that... we don't run it.

afaik, Nevrax guarantees your character for 3 months, unless the game/service is suspended. After that, it's on a best effort basis (given current population guesstimates, I don't think it's a major concern to keep them in the database, imho). 6 months is "almost" a given, and I know players that have been away for longer, got back and recovered them.

yours,

Personally I'd rather wait an extra week, than getting content presented that seems far from finished and need a lot of adjustmants...

omfg? part of the story involves a WAR
and you dont want to participate in the war.
you are complaining cause there is a war in the storyline
of course... noone can argue with you... you just dislike war.......
dc77066 wrote:Yes its optional. Unfortunately they tied part of the evolving story to PvP. You can skip it but that would be like skipping a chapter in a book. Sure you'll find out how the story ends but you missed part of the story... That doesn't make it "purely" optional in my book.

One thing to remember with Ryzom (since you're new) is its always evolving. It will change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse but usually just enough to keep you playing. The forums can paint a very ugly picture that is so different from in-game. Out-of-game we tend to voice our hopes/dreams/concerns/demands in an exaggerated fashion. In-game... we're a blast to hang with (honest!!)!

Ah, farm fresh, I'll put these to good use.

Who else wants to earn themselves a slap with 'you consent by entering' or 'its just a game' comments eh? Punk? :)

The OP seems to have suggested a RP activity in a PvP zone. Good use of imagination. I can think of a few more without the need for PvPing should anyone have a Role suited. Have we any leaders? or scouts? or double agents? or mercenary versions of them? or peace-preachers? or sit-in organisers?

Lets add some content to this consentless contest.

(This whole post was designed to support my smuggness in the phraseology of the last line. It is otherwise meaningless.)

Hazar!

Alright. We've got someone who KINDA has the point. It's not an issue of a war, more that there has ALWAYS been a conflict. In my interest in forming a neutral guild before I saw the error of my ways this was realized. In one way or another conflict is part of this world, along with all other worlds like it. It's homin nature. I know there are some homins out there who are better than myself and live on a higher plane, but I don't, I live on atys where the planet is being ravaged by war. I can watch it happen and whine about how bad it is and how much it's ruining the lives of homins everywhere, or I can take a step back and decide which side would better benefit Atys by their victory (and it will be either Kami or Karavan) and my future benefits most from Kami victory.

Of course there's always the option of opposing the war and it dragging out longer than need be and causing more homin lives, or we can just all align with the Kami and end it now.
