Maybe you are referring to the letters a fyros named Jyudas wrote to his father narrating some events. Personally I always thought it was him (Jyudas - grimjim) who wrote them and forwarded them to the event managers, but I may be completely wrong. Or maybe I missed something and I am chiming in completely ignorant :) -- it wouldn't be the first time --

You are correct.

I'm personally of the mind that any banning of non-profane names is just plain silly.

If some fool wants to run around with the name "ISmellLikeDeadFish" or "NoobSmacker" or "AsMatureAsAudrey" or even "ILikaDoTheChaCha" ..... so be it... what does that have to do with me?

Moreover, a game with an emote "/pacific" .... is ... in my humble opinion... being awfully hypocritical in banning things because it doesn't pertain to the game

Just my 2 cents

Whats wrong with Jägermeister ? :D

yes, a german only joke :)

Some of the banned names do sound nice if english is not your native language. Madman doesnt sound bad for a me. Would anyone mind a char named Grappa ?
Sounds like a Matis but is close to the mentioned drink above :)

Ehm...

I got this list using the sparhawk setting:
Zodoor
Banaeger
Aphrogne
Embiolman
Calanaenia
Tionia
Bael
Zale
Ito
Itebian
Sparhawk is a character from the David Eddings novel series.
Bael is a demon, the Lord of Pain or something iirc. No demon names allowed.

Inconsistencies are everywhere, I tend to agree with Brit on this.

Bael (Baal, Bhaal) was Lord of Destruction :p
Duriel is Lord of Pain

Wikipedia is your friend on these things.

I think its more likely to do with the religious connotation than a certain other computer game.

Ba'al wasn't a demon. Baal is.

as for Bael:
Pseudonomarchia Daemonum wrote:Weyer called this demon the first monarch of Hell, and head of all infernal powers, with his estates being in the Eastern regions. He has three heads, a crap, a cat, and a human. He controls sixty-six legions that obey him.

This is old news... was brought up repeatedly on the forums already, but anyway...

Means Death's Head... The term has been used by Prussia, Sweden, and Germany. Its stigma comes from the Nazi's use of it as their symbol for their SS troops, however, they simply adopted it from Frederick and his use of it on his Hussar Regiment.

There is also a villian in Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow called Dr. Totenkopf.
