Ok i've made up my mind. The game could be nice in the log run, but even then i don't think its what i am looking for. I played ac2, went to WoW (where a lot of ppl i know from ac2 also went to), back to ac2. Since ac2 will be closed down i was wondering. Go back to WoW or find another MMORPG.

WoW has (a lot) more content to offer. I know the ppl in my WoW guild from AC2, so the community is no issue for me and since this is almost the only good argument used by you all, i dont see why this game is better than WoW (again for me).

Best wishes to you all and that you may have mutch fun playing Ryzom :)

that's completely realtive and depends on how you define content ;) (and on how long you can dodge jyudas :p )

it isn't, nor is wow better than this game. they're simply geared at different audiences. wow is for people who can't spend much time and prefer instant gratification, while ryzom is for people who're willing to commit themselves to a long term goal and live a life on atys.

same to you with whereever you may end up :)

May I try to argue again ?
If you think ryzom is like others, okay, for sure quest and solo part is "weak". If you're looking for the same mark to grip on and play the game as it was a WoW or FFXI : no matters what, you'll be lost, doomed, killed (and not having fun).

The key is : PC community. As borg9 said, the world here is built by the players, not by scripted stuff. So to even know a bit of "what's up down here", you must have many contacts in-game. Sample requirement :
- where to get better stuff than in NPC merchands (A : ask a crafter)
- how to make a team (A : go to the usual hunt place... "usual" may change so ask ppl in region)
- how to leave the d**ned main city w/o being ganked by mobs (A : long-time players know the trick or safe way) ... ...
There is a tremendous amount of thing like that to know. And since the world is not static... experience here is not your level value, but how long you wandered around.
Crap part is when you start... below level 120 i dunno how you could figure out how rich the world is, around you. 14day trial's too short. 1 to 2 month at least :/

These types of things exists in several other MMOs out there. Only difference is that these games have them AND there is more content available in the way of questing/dungeons/raids/PvP/loot/world map to explore and so on (big deal). While I guess you could say that people who play this game are nicer and more helpful with this type of knowledge, every game has its secrets that you get from exploration and game experience.

He obviously knows what 'content' means to him, and it is not present in this game. That's his opinion, and he cannot be faulted for having it.

i don't know what THE GOAL is, but i can tell you what my goals are:
1. providing a tutor and stepping stone for lower level players, esp. inside my own guild
2. chronicling the events on atys
3. providing my unique skills of scouting, moving and fearlessness in battle to those who try to bring control on the chaos of the homins (which will be sorely needed in episode 2 if my predictions of it being the invasion of these friendly fellows(the ones with the guns) comes true)
4. at some point being a prototype tank melee
5. gathering informations about events and the current going-ons in order to keep my guild at the front or at the very least informed
6. get myself some nice OP in the imperial dunes :D

as you see, none of these goals are attainable in a reasonably short time frame, but they do provide me with something to look forward to and motivation, as well with a unique feeling of reward when attaining them

p.s.: i forgot, there's also still the riddle of the snatcher left =)

i have to partly disagree, ryzom doesn't have the *kind of content* that he was looking for, but to say it has a lot less *content* is doing the game wrong

No need to argue about this. I had a discussion with a friend in RL about Ryzom and WoW. I do understand. My friend asked me also whatfor he should do this or that in SoR. We played online together since Diablo. Now he feels fine with such, while i am done with it. I dont want content any more :D After all its just a question of what you want from a game. And by the way game design is no religion ;)

Are the current goals "working" to build Ryzom a large and thriving community, or is the game still a small fraction of its release population?

Maybe some people need to admit the game isn't perfect and maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to focus on some things that might help more new players get into Ryzom and become a part of the community.

Sorry, just really tired of the fanboi responses that only serve to drive more people away.
