The Torque games engine can handle 128 players on a server, with reasonable bandwidth etc. That's an FPS engine, which requires much more bandwidth and more timely packet delivery than an MMO engine does. If Ryzom couldn't handle 256 players or above (on dedicated comms equipment), I'd be a bit disappointed

I belief the client could handle it if tweaked. Its not that the client is too slow. But you know that toons of players and mobs are reduced to zero when there are too many onscreen. Once there was somewhere something fom Dev about this. I dont think this is a problem, only the client is not tuned to a recent Ati or nVidia. It would be much faster if it would just render it instead using CPU to reduce. uhm i went off topic B)

how do you know that?maybe only the vast majority of people who participate in the forum do not want free pvp?

the vast majority of ppl on the forums, AND ppl i know in game do not want open PvP. My post was based on that, your post seems to be based on your own opinion so sorry, but im gonna stick with what i think.

Oh and as you seem to be new, would you care to explain how exactly this open PvP server would work as at the mo, anyone of any skill can attack anyone else. We gonna have a skill reset? Or would you like the resources currently going into what ppl have been waiting months for be poured into your idea for flooding us with l33t kids?

And i am happy with the number of ppl i see in game. There are many ppl i miss, but open PvP wouldnt have stopped them leaving.

and i can tell you...so the guess is less than 500 people playing, im surewith free pvp the game`ll get at least 10k free trial players and at least 1k players who`d stay (source :my guild)

Not the sort of people we'd want though, IMO, though I suspect that's the reasoning behind increasing the PvP content.

everyone can kill everyone and do what they like to do and live with the consequences of their behavior, such as bounty..

Be sure that no Tryker would pay ever any taxes I was ingame now for over six month and belief me, nothing, really nothing is unique enough ingame that i would bow that deep. Your guild had to control the whole planet to get one dapper of taxes from me. Since there are some other guilds this is close to impossible.

Wait for the outposts. Then you onw a piece of land you can defend or can go conquer another one. Or loose it all.
