Since the start of this game. I have been patient with the lack of updates, patient with the lack of invasions and events, patient with the COMPLETE lack of story in the game. But having events that involve certain players goes to far. This is the straw that broke the camels back.

I am cancelling my subscription and will not be back.

Thank you Nevrax for giving someone like me, a long time supporter of the game, the finger event and content wise.
Goodbye, Raynes, and good luck with whatever you decide to do next.

if you still think it's bull**** after you have read it, please go, by all means, the fine details of a real story line happening ingame are lost on you anyways.
Oh come off of it. They could go another 6 months, throw a Kami in the middle of the game shooting off fireworks and you would be there defending them and how the story is happening in game. The story progression in this game is a joke and non-exsistant. It's been that way for a year. They can't get their act together and put in a decent mission/quest system. They can't get their act together to have invasions as they said they would. They can't get their act together to get things like outposts in the game within a reasonable amount of time. So instead they have a few events that involve a very small segment of the population, forget the fact that most players are left leveling and you defend them.

They could tell you that they had to remove the story from the game, remove 3 of the 4 races, and tell you there would never be content again and you would still be there defending them. Do yourself a favor and pull your nose out of their behinds for a few minutes.

Sorry to see you go, Raynes. Met you briefly for the first time last night in-game. Shame to hear it would be the last. Good luck to you with the path you take.

You're just sounding more and more like someone throwing their toys out the pram.

A 'mission quest system' is hollow in regard to these sorts of stories.

The wonderful thing about Ryzom is that when you're involved it actually matters.

When you can say "I was there when the Guild of Elias warned us that Jena was coming." It means something, your experience is INDIVIDUAL and far more rewarding.

The price you pay for that is that you can't hope to be involved in every, single little thing. For me, the pay off is worth the price because, thinking selflessly, other people are getting that same thrill that I get when THEY can attend an event I can't.

Dissemination of information, chinese whispers and distortions through the filter of other people's roleplaying is pretty basic RP/story stuff, especially for large groups like this. This has stirred up roleplay, fired up debate, brought the factions into sharp relief and brought the whole game to life.

*slaps across the face* Stop it, you're just being hysterical and silly and you'll probably feel like a complete ass in the morning.

ok, so attacking me on the base that a huge part of my posts are defending ryzom where i think that people are making mistakes or having misconceptions and completely ignoring that i have done my fair share of attacking them as well invalidates my account of what happened and my conclusions about the event?
i think i'll rather agree with kostika now and stop trying to attempt communication with you, which you surely won't mind :)

I've been wanting to tell you that for a long time. Your nonstop defending of this game blinds you to what is really going on. I have news for you and others defending this game, your going to be disappointed. You are never going to get what you are expecting out of this game. I can say this becuase I was told so by someone who would know. The game and it's storyline are never going to explode in the big way you think it's going to.

I really wish this were true and I can't wait for when this is true. Misplaced or not, I still have faith that Nevrax will turn Ryzom into the game I see it can be. I long for an environment where our choices in these events really do matter. I want events to have real consequence. I want to see the result of our action, or inaction.

But, unfortunately, as long as these events are taking place on the static canvas that is Atys right now, I don't think this will happen.

I'm not saying these GM events are a bad thing, just that they can't be the only thing if the storyline is going to matter to the game. I think the GM events are what can add spice to the storyline. But right now, I feel like we're getting a sprinkling of the spice with no real substance.

Raynes, I don't think you'd ever be satisfied with what Nevrax or the CSR team do; it never seems good enough. In a lot of cases though you are right in what you say.

However, where you would be demanding to get what you, as a customer, paid for and promised to, others just let it slip and try to enjoy what's there at the time. Others then again just go inactive or quit. I believe you are the "extreme" version of what many other older players (who are also getting "less interested" in the game) are thinking, you could call it sort of a spokesperson.

Ah raynes... don't think I've met you ingame before, shame, though I've seen you on the forums more than enough. ;) Take care anyway.

On the topic of this event: I'm not sure what to feel here. In the end we all pay the same amount of money and are entitled to the same kind of treatment, besides in this case it doesn't seem like invitations were random at all, but chosen. I like the idea of a secret meeting, the execution of this idea could have been better, though. While from reading who here got an invitation, i know these are fairly honorable homins. Yet I'm sure some will feel left out and might be scared this 'information' could be used against them or for those that attended the meeting, in their advantage. It remains to be seen what happens, it's too early to make conclusions. :)

edit: put my goodbye post in a new topic after all, this one is just gonna end in flaming :p
