Actually what a lot of people have said here has been something that struck me for a while. We can look around in Atys and its pretty common to see the higher level melee fighting in Aen armor. Not grinding levels, but when it comes down to a boss hunt or duel, the Aen armor comes on. IMO this isn't the way it should be. Not only does it limit the demand for higher Q HA, it essentially gives a benefit to those guilds willing to camp a spawn or KS another groups pull. Instead, I think Aen armor should be "for looks only". Make the armor look nice, but have the stats on it be horrible. That way it would simply be a bragging right to have one.

And Kye, I suggest you re-read the first post and note that 1) I didn't mention you or any other names or even what happened, and 2) note what this post is about. Its about the CoC, not you or the incident.

drizzeth wrote:I dont really see a large gap between level 190 armor craft and reaching level 201, going on to 231 its even comparabe effort/speed (i have ranged craft at 231)
1 skill branch is nothing. Remember that you have to train all armor branches starting from 101 knowing that after q190 your armors will not be that needed anymore. You get some benefit crafting other branches over your q but thats it.
drizzeth wrote: Also you can get away with getting just your vest or pants or just any 1 branch up to level 240 to be able to craft any armor (light/medium/heavy) at q250 at a 5% chance, this 5% chance is realy not that bad as it sounds, its a reliable way of making q250 full armor sets really.
Not with supreme mats, really. Not really with heavy armors at all, you need insane amounts of mats for one suit.
drizzeth wrote: Anyway another point is your defense level you are using, when you wear q200 armor as a 250 skill level (master pikeman for example) you defend at a max defense skill level of 200, i dont have to tel you that 50 levels or even 10-20 levels of skill make a lot of difference.
What is this defense level? Dodge/parry is not capped by armor q.

Armor isnt as important a factor in a duel as it seems, for both melee and magic there are very easy ways of bypassing the armor completely, all that remains as function for the armor then is if it will enable you to defend at a certain level
(q of armor being same or higher as skill you are using)

When it comes to pvp yes i will put my aen set on. The reason i do this is that finding a better set of armour at the moment is really tough! If i had better (which is easily possible), i would wear it!
