Similarly, you can't honestly expect that if you build an outpost in the roots, the kitin will not try to destroy it. Or if you build one in Bounty Beaches, the cutes won't try to take their land back. And taking over Westgrove Stronghold while having -100 fame with the Ancient Dryads wouldn't make them too happy either.
I do agree that outposts should be about PvP, I'm just hoping they will also be about PvE. If not right from the start, then as something to be implemented later. So that if no other guilds decide to attack your outpost, then the local primitives, tribes, or kitin will.

raynes wrote:That is correct I didn't see the entire thing operational (at least I think I didn't). And I think Lukati is right in that they will eventually work like little towns run by guilds. But they will always be about guild vs. guild conflict. Lets be honest here most guilds spend a lot of time in the roots getting supreme mats. Likewise most guilds would love to have a safe place to base their operations out of in the roots. You can't honestly expect that if you have a outpost in the roots that other players won't take it from you.
Your also thinking very small concerning outposts and pvp type action. It's pretty clear that some of you want a game where everyone works together against a common foe like the Kitin. It's also very clear that some of us (myself included) want conflict. What going to stop those that don't want conflict from forming alliances (and yes that is part of the outposts) to police the actions of guilds like mine?
Spoken like a true Roleplayer! This is what we need more people to subscribe to.

I agree and I think the devs would agree also. I just wouldn't count on that with the first version.

One thing I did forget that the devs mentioned, the outposts will give a bonus of some sort to the guild that owns it. Things like sap, focus, hp and so on. I can't remember how or why it will be awarded though.

Ok. I´m from the other community, so excuse my english.
I think the main problem is not, that there is pvp on atys, it is that the whole pvp thing was, and with the outposts seems to will be again, introduced completely without an ingame reason. There is no war betwene the four races, the declared common goal of all races is to retake the land and the only official enemys are the kitin and some tribes (based on factions).
So why should there be war among the guilds (and especially guilds of one race)? In the roots its partly undersandable, because as you allready said, the outposts there are good base camps, but why in the mainlands, especially in the lvl 50 regions?
It would be a nice feature if the pvp thing would be famebased, i.e. that you only can attack each other if there are big fame differences between the two combatants (-80 vs. +80 or something like this). But no, nothing like this. Instead everyone could fight everyone without reason, just for fun.
And imho: Just for fun is good for duells, but not for a "big feature" like the outposts. And I sincerely hope they will, one day, be more.

I disagree with your view on the common goal and conflict between the races. The lore said that we are in a time where Homins are rebuilding after being almost completly wiped out by the Kitin. No where does it say that the races are working together. The Matis have completly different goals in rebuilding than the Fyros do. In fact if you read the lore it's very clear that the Fyros and the Matis don't like each other, in fact they pretty much hate each other. The problem is that the players have ignored that which makes many people think that the lore really says everyone gets along.
Now to answer your question about mainland outposts. Again your not considering the big picture. First lets take the high level areas, in particular Bounty Beaches. Why would a guild build an outpost there? Well think of when people travel through Bounty Beaches. In order to survive they basically run from outpost ruin to outpost ruin avoiding mobs. Well what would happen if my guild built an outpost there and blocked off traffic to any followers of the Karavan? Or what if I had a vendor or stable there? My owning of one or both of the outposts in Bounty Beaches basically means I would control not only that area, but also travel routes for the game.
So what about the level 50 areas? Well my character currently in game is not welcome in any Matis or Tryker City due to my horrible fame levels. This makes it a pain in the ass anytime I want to harvest or camp in the forest or lakelands. For me it would be extremely beneficial to have a place in those lands to camp safely. Of course if I decide to build an outpost right out side of the Matis capital, I can promise you that would piss off several Karavan based guilds. It would be a huge insult that I had taken claim to some of their land and they would do their best to stop me.
I'm pretty sure everyone in the game will get into the spirit of guild vs. guild outpost conflicts when they are trying to get from point a to point b and suddenly they can't because someone built an outpost in their route of travel. Either that or they will complain how the devs are ruining the game.

you forgot an option, a percentage (approx. 10% i'd say) would heckle on these "evil" people, call them traitors and tell them that the whole server community would shun them as outlaws before they have even done anything...

the Lore pages wrote:
Great warriors of all races came together under the banner of the Guild of the Force of Fraternity. They too had taken the route of the exodus to rejoin their people and teach them new methods of combat. Each race cherishes the names of these heroes: Kalus Hym the Fyros, Leng Cheng-Ho the Zoraï, Matini Roqvini the Matis and Bremmen Dingle the Tryker. All died gloriously, sacrificing their lives for their people and their leader.
the Lore pages wrote:
A peace treaty was signed between the homin peoples, followed by a free trade agreement and the ratification of the Homin Rights Act, an anti-slavery text introduced by the Trykers. A new era of peace had begun.

And trying to block access thru a zone makes the games more fun how?
Sorry i must have missed something...

Im pretty sure this may be the case for a certen % of the player mass, but what option will you give for those not intrested in killing their fellow Homins?
And then you cut off ways to get to spesial spots for the genaral harvester "not what i am one

" what option do you give them then? forceing them to ether change their game play or try sneak past Guild controlled NPC?
