Since ryzom uses a open skill system and no classes you can choose whatever you want. Since choosing the easy way is preferd by most (yay 250 in something in only x day's) there will be alot more high nukers and healers compared to more challenging(read: slow boring and you can't play god) trees like affliction and melee.
This is the way the ryzom skill system works, and there is verry little you can do about it except for ones own restriction to keeping yourself in level range of your friends. It is a playstyle decision.
I just wonder if nevrax wants it to be this way.

well, i wouldnt mind leveling affliction at all, if i COULD. But i just cant hit mobs with affliction spells, out of the 3 i have (stun, madness, blind) most mobs are imune to 2 of them, and just keeps resisting the 3rd. Not only does this mean i wont get any xp when mobs die, but im also not helping my team at all, and when crap hits the fan (it does, all the time) i have to use my heal skill and we get no xp from the mobs.
Yes, we fought mobs in our lvl range, 1x-3x mobs in ofloks oasis in fyros, and we were lvl 61 melee and 57 offensive/defensive affliction. Think i landed ONE spell in 6 kills.
edit: this wasnt meant as a complaint, more like a hint on other things they maybe should change

I thought the thread was asking for suggestions, not solutions

How about 'supportive afflictions' where the healer creates a link with a party member that boosts regen- or transfers damage ?
How about expanding aura based healing ?
I have only ever seen 'shielding' used once, that i can remember, but i think that sort of idea...

Hello Everyone
(1) Add Group Looting settings.
(2) Fishing.
(3) Digging for worms to be able to fish.
(4) Cooking.
(5) Tree Cutting for weapons.
(6) Add new Creatures to the noob areas and the mainland.
(7) Make the compass with map interface build in.
(8) 4 more Races with rebel class, dark side-Evil!
(9) Pets that are tame or vender sold.
(10) Rare Armor Drops, including fishing poles, rings ect.
(11) Able to make Characters Skin colors from dark to light, or light to dark skin.
(12) Sitting in chairs, sleeping, eating.
Please tell them in the game if you see anything here you want, from the list.

Play Fable much?
Actually, I'd had the thought of new races that worked with the kitins too. One can assume they have Hero's too, so why not have them player controlled. Would be kind of neat to have a kincher that you could ride around

true that things need to be fixed first and thats the more logical way.
but its always nice to think of new things and fantasise<--spelling :S

Notifications when friends come online/offline (With maybe a little music jingle played)
Brief random atmosphere music played.
Combat music.
Could get annoying you say? Thats what the music volume slider for

hehe
But i agree with DT, that the current stuff needs fixed more..
Oh and the ability to customise crafts more, for more unique looks
