When I checked their web site for info on how to do that, it said I needed to provide proof that I was in "the industry". So, unless their site is full of it, it would seem to be more complex than that.

Not quite. E3 is a trade event. You can't just go to the e3 website and sign up. You either have to be somehow working in the industry or know someone who works in the industry that can come up with a good reason why you should go.
I am very lucky to be going and it's not something that I will probably ever do again.

Ehm, as long as I know a few days in advance I can see no real problem there.... We have a LAN and a 2Mbit internet line, so bring those laptops too!
I think some 20 people can be hosted here in the guestrooms and some on matrasses in either the guestroosm or my livingroom.
So, Evo party where all are invited at my place?
