Here is my five cents:
This is a great move for the following reasons:
OUTPOSTS!!!
We need people from different timezones to constantly defend them - Americans, Europeans, & the odd Australian

ohh, surprise.. surprise early morning.
Did i miss it or was not mentioned how many player approx. will come over ?
Maybe in % or such ?
I will miss my sunday early morning harvesting. Me and bodoc alone in fount

Gone for ever, this is the main game time in US i think.
Well this will change a lot. As long as i played the Kamibar was never down, but
i read on Leanon that such happenes.
New Interface, free add-on, Raynez resubscribed and US gets finally their Sxarlet.
What a day !!

First of all: Welcome to Europe Americans!
But seriously, I have a bad feling about this... No don't have anything against the Amies, I think they are nice people and RP will be better with them, more people, so on th ecommunity side it's good news.
But it shows something on the financial side... that SoR is not profitable at the moment. And that is bad news, since how long can Nevrax survive keeping up Ryzom? All I say regarding this: remember Horizons!
I just hope I won't be forced to leave this fantastic game, because Nevrax can't pay the bills.

Merging two english spoken communities is not the end. Its one step. Reading Leanon forum sometimes too i think Leanon and Aniro are much more populated then
Arispotle is yet.
Hopefully the add.on on E3 will have some effect too.

Think this move and the almost dreamy letter and all this talk about E3 is abit nerving, is it Ryzom they are selling or NEL engine.?
And remember the same laws on programs and software in US does not happen to be the same here in Europe.
LoL, not only are we playing a "liveing/changeing" game the whole orgainsasjon behind it are in ever motion.
But its nice to se David writeing something again, soon allmost a year since last time we got any info from him,
Sure hi has high dreams for the game, but can hi complete them and how long must a poor soul wait for those dreamy fetures
Tyr.

The NEL Engine is Open Source and available for everyone for free. Nevrax is only offering comercial support for NEL. Ryzom (The Game itself, the Art, The Lore, The Graphics, The Content, you name it) is something completly different and is not for sale.
I really love to read Davids Letters, he always makes me like "waaah, i can't wait to see what's comin next". such a teaser.

the commercial NeL packages consist of this:
a) the open source software, which is free anyways
b) 2 weeks of set-up support and differing degrees of a pre-setup environment, depending on the price

To me NeL is a very interessting project. Unforunately only few seem to use this engine for their games. One chinese wargame and an MMORPG in early development i can see.
You must also understand that incomming money from NeL would also support Ryzom.
If some more companies would use NeL, then the 3D guys would get payied from there and not from Ryzom. Which would free money for the content designer and so on...
BTW: Anyone here ever tired to compile the engine and set up the included snwoball demo ?
