simple comparison:
using words to lead your blind grandmother into falling down stairs, is that exploiting a weakness or being thoughtful and strategic?
killing mobs who can not reach you and cannot run away from you, is that exploiting a weakness or being thoughtful and strategic?

Blind grandmother's aren't worth much XP, save to newbs, but that would be cunning.
Killing mobs who can't do anything to you and have no chance of getting to you. Exploit.

1. thinking at the inheritance, that's the dream of the criminals: the perfect crime... and going a bit far... exploiting someone's weaknes is strategy, no matter what you say.
2. as long it cant hurt you... why not? just got some examples in real life: some nation just launched some bomb carpets to another nation who had not air defence.
Bottom line: when you can exploit a weakness, IS toughtfull and strategic.
End of demonstration

Earning XP is, in game, increasing in skill and expertise.
Modern weapons don't require so much skill and expertise. That's why the crossbow and later the firearm supplanted the skill-intensive longbow.
The 'reward' in terms of carpetbombing is furthering one's countries aims, not increasing one's personal skill.
The reward in terms of nuking with impunity is, potentially, mats or clearing a path, not increasing one's skill.

Vutescu I have to object against this! (Which is funny since I do it the second time today against you
)
What you say is the perfect way to destroy society. What if you succed? You will be more powerful OK, but no one will trust you, since backstabbed them. Some may fear you, but what if you ever get weak? No one will help you.
We can only survive if we can rust eachother. I can't even imagine how many times I have been rezzed by people. They could have left me there since I was competition for them in quite a few ways (like diggin the same spot, killing the same kind of mobs), they didn't get any XP for rezzing me so what is in for them? Nothing, but without this, the game would be nearly unplayable.
One word to Jyudas: I absolutly share your view, I'm a melee warrior too, and one handed + shield so I know how hard it is to level melee. I don't wanna make the nukers life easier, no reason to do this. But I would be mad, if someone would report my expolitng to the devs, while I try to get my off magic from 31 to 50 (which is my goal now). I say again I DON'T use any of these spots. Just it's so unconfortable if someone says you are cheating. Telling the devs where someone can exploit is OK and fair, as long as you don't say names. But telling on eachother... we are no judges of eachother, and I hope this stays this way.

Ah, you're a cute tryker so I'll let you off.
But I don't think we, as a community, should tolerate cheating.

I would like to make a few simple remarks, most are about the flavor of this thread, less about the real content.
@Blacky: I fear that you feel misunderstood and playing a game that can be restrictive on players taking a shortcut maybe is not your thing. It seems like Ryzom is a niche game, where other games appeal to a broader mass. I met you in game while passing by, as a person you seem nice, easily angered, impulsive and you tend to see no problem in harsh language to anyone. Hey, that is me untill a few years ago. I learned to keep my harsh language in private chats like team or guild and try to be polite in all other channels.
You are different in ways I am/was different and most people consider that weird or crazy. You will have to learn to adapt to the masses, as the masses will not adept to you. Train you beast to come out only when you have people around you who can handle this and keep it quite in public. Trust me, it will make life much more easier.
@Soulsnat: I praise your professionality.
@All the other people who are in this thread: I praise you mature approach and ever though this is a heated argument sometimes about exploits, everyone seems to be able to remain polite.
Not I *bow* to you all, I have some digging to do.

This is all old hat. It has already been said, by dev/CSR*, that using terrain where the mob can't reach you is an exploit.
* On the NA forum I believe.
