From Spite: Were you even listening to what Cerest said?
I saw what she wrote, but you see, I have been through the ropes of becoming a guide, done the nondisclosures, seen all the rules regarding guides in mmo's (eq wasn't the only place I was a guide, and the paperwork was pretty much the same generic stuff).
So it didn't matter much to me. Simply because I have lived it, been there, and done it.
Stating that there are laws, when there frankly are no laws, won't make the law happen.
You see, the scoop here, is that this company might treat guides like internal employees, not volentary, meaning that they have to fill out applications that are like work applications, deal with I-9 or W-2's etc.
Which would be the ONLY way that legal matters come into play.
Let me explain this in more lamens terms, so that it is simplified a bit.
The guide programs that I was a part in, in other mmo's, were all considered 3'rd party entities empowered to assist the players.
This is standard guide practices.
The 'Company' creates a kind of liazon group that is given certain rights / privilages to assist the 'Company', the 'Company' witholds the right to rebuke those privilages at any time if the liazon group screws up.
This liazon group is the guide group, they have an appointed 'Leader' of the group or boss per say, those have assistants, then there is the pyramid of guide levels under them.
Each level has certain roles they take to assist the company, none of the levels are internal employees of the company.
The company can terminate the liazon powers at any time if they are abused in any fassion that does not suite the company's needs.
There are no ramifications for the termination, the liazon group or guide group can not ask for funds of any kind from the company.
One of the duties of the Leader is to give daily reports of guide activity to the company for review.
The duties of the Leaders assistants is to follow up with all the guides to make sure there performing there guide duties.
The company has tools to track all of these guides, including there logs, there movement, there keystrokes, there special ingame abilities, etc.
The company already in the EULA has removed themself from liability of any action in game that would result in a lawsuite.
This is just the basic ruleset, I could go into extremem detail of each level in the guide organization, but I think Spite, this should be enough to satisfy why I don't believe what Cerest has said to be true, because there are no legal issues to having guides, atleast none if they are not actually internal employees to the company.
And like I said, the only way it would be a legal issue, as stated by Cerest, is IF the guides were in fact, internal employees of the company, through normal hiring mechanisms.
Which would be idiotic of the company.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.
