First off, i agree with Cerest! I thought we were the 'mature' community, opinionated, but mature. Please act so.

Second. This is not a "standard" piece of software. Automated testing tools do not exist for probably 75% of what this game is if not more. I do however agree that a manual test plan should be instituted around every function that is changed in the game. However, if you have been in real-world development of a piece of software that requires a multi-person team, you will realize that these things happen, and as they do, you add to your test cases.

What you are in effect dealing with is the version 1 release of software. If you compare this to WoW (did I say that?), you will ntoice that WoW is really in like version 8 or so. Nevrax is taking the correct steps, and telling you that they realize their mistakes and are working on it.

In the end, I must say that their ability to make changes, fix, etc. is much faster than 95%+ of the software companies in the world. If you look around you will realise this to be true.

Since 4 months ago, things have gotten progressively better. If you cannot step back and see this then you are missing the big picture. I think what many people are missing is that WE have the ability to add content to the game. Do some stuff with others besides Power Leveling, there is a lot of fun to be had. In our guild, I am the event planner, and we have begun doing 2-3 scheduled events in-guild every week. It is amazing the fun you can have. I will look to create some events that include non-guild members soon.

I think if every guild scheduled 1 public event a week, we would have so much 'content' you would not know what to chose to do.

Just my opinion though.

I'm not following how you consider this game to be in version 1 while WoW is in version 8?

Thanks guys,

Thank you Cerest for stepping in.

It is when a thread devolves into name calling and immature posts that bring down the whole forum and community. If peeps want to name call, log on to SoR and carry on a private conversation using the "/tell" command. There you can mud sling all day long if you want. If you feel like you are still ticked at one another, travel to the PvP area and duke it out.

We've got a great community here at SoR and it is beginning to get a negative cloud over it due to the negativity on the forums.

I will also say this. I am for opinions and free speech, but once you have posted your thoughts about what content should have already been included or your fed up with this or that, don't spam the threads with the same thoughts. If you are that fed up with the game, just take a breather, a break. Whether that is a week, a few weeks, a month or two. Don't leave the game, just take a break, and then come back and see if changes have been made or if you have "fun" playing the game again. Please don't spend a month of your time and 1,000 posts saying the same thing over and over.
EDIT: Btw, not addressed at any individual in particular, but a few that I see that post the same complaint over and over and over and over..........

Now back on subject....the title of the thread what will patch 53 do. Since patch 53 is out, I can say I like it cept for a few things, and I've already posted on them so I'll provide a link and quote myself, http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12318&page=2
rrwfreak wrote:Hold your horses on that thought. Good bug fixes patch cept it seems to have created some problems that weren't there before.

Harvesting picks and crafting tools that were in your inventory are broken, but you can buy a new pick and/or tool to fix this. This is no big deal, but if you are new and don't have a lot of cash, it can be.

Team window is bugged bad. Incorrectly displays hp, stam and sap of members. Bars over characters were supposed to be fixed, but still appears bugged to me. Not just for me either, I was in 4 different teams since patch tonight, and we have to disband and rejoin to fix it. Then for some reason the bug will show up all over again at a random time, and whole team has to disband and go through the process again until it happens again. This is very bad if you are trying to keep your team mates healed as it might show everyone has full health, stam and/or sap, but this is not the case as someone shouts "SAP!!!!!!!!!" and another "HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Your team is then quickly decimated by the kincher or the tyrancha or the cuttler. Ah, dp, it is fun.

I noticed in Tryker land that mobs would not repop after you killed a group of them which is nice if you were trekking around, but me and one other cleared a whole area of mobs and it was vacant of cloppers, kipees and goaris. No pop for half an hour, hour....so we left. I went back to check before I logged, still no pop. A tryker bud of mind says this has happened before on the last couple of patches.

Still overall like the bug fixes. Now we just need a patch to fix the bugs this patch caused.

i agree that some ppl post on here, really to see their own text, can't say to hear their own voice. i've stopped for the most part posting on these forums becasue i'm sick of the same ppl moaning and complaining about the same thing over and over and yet they're unwilling to use what's on hand and works pretty good already

as for what i've liked about patch 53, the mission stuff hands down is my fav thing, the check mark for finished quests is the best thing, the other stuff is moderately nice

as for other things i've seen is a bug in the amount of hp left with a mob or a teammate, i was out killing mobs last night and noticed that on occasion i'd kill mobs and their hp bar would be 3/4 empty and once after dying my guildmate's hp said he was full but he was laying dead next to me

other than that i like the patch, still would honestly like some cpu lag taken care of, maybe it'll come in a 30 meg matis patch

Well, try this,
Starting in 1995, 10 years ago!!!!

version 1: Warcraft
version 2: Warcraft II Tides of Darkening
version 3: Warcraft II Beyond the Dark Portal
version 4: Diablo
version 5: Starcraft
version 5.5: Starcraft Expansion Set: Brood War
version 6: Diablo II
version 6.5: Diablo II Expansion Set: Lord of Destruction
version 7: Warcraft III Reign of Chaos
version 7.5: Warcraft III Frozen Throne
version 8: Starcraft GHOST
version 9: World of Warcraft

Imagine Ryzom in 10 years! Probably not called ryzom or even on Atys at that point. Imagine after making a modest income with the 'Atys' world Ryzom getting funding, and blowing your doors off with the next world. THAT is the possibility if you all remain semi-positive, and add to the community and content yourselves.

Ryzom is really 3-4 years ahead of it's time. It will push others create new and different environments, or to match it for sure, but they are currently behind the curve. I will agree the content is 6-12 months behind at the moment, however they are doing it, and doing it right! What did the original warcraft have in it?

Chew on that for a minute or two before you criticise everyting to death. You have the power to make the game not be a grind and make it enjoyable, I have lots of fun every time I am on. You can too!!!

Blizzard had the resources to create a highly polished game. They also followed a formula ironed out by their predecessors - the fundamental differences between WoW and Everquest, say, are really minimal.

Nevrax is a small company still trying to work out development, they need to see a return on investment sooner, and they don't have the resources to get everything done right away. Also given the smaller market they will have less to work with - I assume Blizzard had a much, much larger budget. Finally, Nevrax is trying something creative. That always causes problems. It takes time to balance and even things out.
