I don't get wound up easily until someone starts talking about my RL or me quiting game when I said nothing of the sort...

As for the apoligy... Well fine, Just leave my life out of your convos, TY...

And sorry for snapping at you, But what did you honestly expect me to say?

P.S. I won't edit what I said before, Simply because I will stand behind the things I say... Even If I do say things alittle harsher then I really mean sometimes. And don't worry, I didn't like Rundll for the longest time... lol... even less then I like you atm, So there is plenty of hope for you ;)

Luv ya Rundll :p lol...

Yup, roleplay has really made SoR better. Saved it from bankruptcy. Kept Nevrax in buisness. Certainly no fear now of the game going dark.

Sure, some shortsighted naysayers might have complained; saying it would only fill the servers with ignorant fools. But those people were wrong! Adding roleplay has saved Nevrax, and made SoR a successful and mature game.

On the plus side mrshad, you do have a fantastic forum sig ;)
Rundll,

The choice Nevrax made wasn't between PVP and RP content. It was between PVP and Non-PVP content.

Their STATED reason (not one I made up) for creating a PVP strike team instead of a content strike team was because new content would get played out, and they figured PVP would keep us all entertained indefinitely.

Don't misunderstand; I certainly don't blame PVP for the horrible financial state of SoR. There are a lot of reasons for that, most of them Nevrax's fault. But the way expanded PVP was sometimes (certainly not all the time) presented was as a necessary evil in order to save the game.

Since then, accounts were lost, people were fired, and SoR is being sold. Was pursuing PVP the wrong choice? I think one can make the argument that it was. Would more non-pvp content have saved Nevrax? Well, there is no real way of knowing.

And pointing to the ring as Nevrax's concession to non-pvp content is not really fair. The ring is gimped. I have used it, it is buggy and limited. The users, currently, receive no in-game reward for their time other than the fun they might have had while playing it. It is a good first step, but has hardly had the attention given it that PVP has received.

All that being said, the Ring's reception has been pretty poor. I would like to think it is because the Ring's execution has been pretty poor, but I might be deluding myself. In every other game, we find that most player-made content is crap. In MMO's, where time playing should equal a reward to your character's ability; the certain knowledge that a player made scenario is not going to net you anything is a stake right through the scenario's heart.

So, anyway, to say that RP would have saved SoR isn't the argument I was trying to make. PVP has been given it's very own strike team. Healing spells have been rebalanced to accommodate it, jewelry has been expanded to make it more interesting, Double Elemental spells were made more costly in an effort to balance melee against magic. In short, all of the large changes to the game, with the exception of a poorly implemented scenario editor, have been done for PVP's sake.

The community has become divided, 7337 D00Ds are popping up all over, and the game is still failing. We got everything we feared was going to happen, and nothing we wanted.

But hey, thanks for the fun forum quote!

Congrats man
Those are English words but...
Maybe...just maybe...instead of using the random word generator you have tied to the "Submit Reply" button; you could provide a sentence or two of actual context?

Just a though.

Go on being UB34, U 7337 D00D U.

Only one problem Run... A large server population dive took place around the time of EP 2, and continued with the introduction of Outposts. Say what you will about all of the RP content introduced (erm, that would be the Ring? which also is used for other stuff), at least RP content hasnt made large numbers of players _leave_.

mrshad, I think half the problem is the nature of PvE content, MMO's are notorious grindfests and people eat PvE content faster than anything, PvP re-cycles itself and gives some players something to strive too. It adds a tactical element to their levelling etc.

Nevrax with is small dev team cant compete with other MMO's in the PvE content sake, man they cant even do an event without it being totally screwed up.

I agree PvP was the half asses option, I would be glad to play a non-PvP game if it had amazing PvE content. No-one seems to have cracked that yet tho.

no but at least loads of players stayed for the PvP and the politics etc etc

if it was all based around RP, many would have left. cant prove it, buts I think some will agree (some obviously excludes any member of the whining neutral merc guild)
