is this going to be an open source project
are they actualy trying to preserver ryzom at all
or are they busy trying to decieve a community and using it as a platform for something else like money
my concerns are genuine and I WILL state my opinions because I have seen people ripped off before and done nothing THIS time i'm going to say something as all the alarm bells are going off whether or not you agree or even CARE about my opinion since this is also my forum as well I WILL do what I can to figure out what these guys are doing
so far there is a website that doesn't work very well if at all. A bunch of crappy recycled graphics. Misappropriated and now verified stolen information that is not just limited to email address. A bunch of people looking for money and they are using this forum as a means to make themselves visible. I disagree with a lot of what is going on and how its being dealt with.
Now go troll someone else unless of course you have something useful to add like information or an opinion on the issue I will put you in the pile with Kaetami the ones with nothing to add just who are busy making stupid comments like this
At least I am trying its not the same for you!

It really doesn't matter ummax. It won't matter till we find out who will own Nevrax's assests. Company "A, B or C" can buy the assests to either:
A.) Buy the assets, keep the game running, fix the code, and hope to make a profitable business model that Nevrax was not able to do. Use the newly acquired code in future projects as needed.
B.) Buy the assets, assimilate the code as they please into other projects as needed and close shop due to lack of income via subs.
C.) The least likely scenario, keeping the status quo and leaving the server in a static state.

Re: Xavier's still at it :)
yeah I guess I am confused as to why a bunch of techy people are on this forum pitching this if B is the likely because that is what this group seems to be. What's worse is they have used the email addresses of players and other information to get themselves going. It all seems like a misrepresentation to me and I dont want people to be holding out this group as an option of "saving ryzom" and such when it doesn't look like that is what they are up to.praha wrote:It really doesn't matter ummax. Anyhow i'm thinking that A is possible to be honest and I think this group is here trying to create a feeling of it not being possible.

Thanks for that, I've seen you and others invite a few times and always to people your discussing with and I appricated it. I probably won't unless ryzom.org wins the rights though but still thanks.tryzovia wrote:I will repeat that you are ALL wellcome to come on the site, and discuss with us. Re: Xavier's still at it :)
Final, I do have to disagree with you that Ryzom has a failed game stigma attached to it except in europe and a few other places , IMO it has no stigma at all because here in the states it was hardly advertised if ever so we didn't know it was even out there! Granted a few hardcore gamers found it early on from the states but those of us that aren't hardcore never knew about this wonderful game! So with that if Ryzom is bought by a new company that can advertise here in the states and all over they very well could breath new life into this game but as you said yourself it is just my opinionfinal60 wrote:Yeah
Xavier probably mad e a school boy error with the getting in contact with us by email thing. The project has lost credibility because of that.
To be honest I'm looking at ryzom, a great game. I'm trying to figure out how any company could buy it and make it popular again? It's a lost cause I think. We've been dong this for over two years now. Surely thats enough time, for the world to discover Ryzom and determine whether it is a hit or not!
As much as we know it is an amazing game. The fact is we've had long enough now to see if it would see succeed like WoW, and it just hasn't. I don't believe having another company buy it, would change that. It's been too long now. Ryzom has the stigma of a "failed game" attached it, as much as I don't like to admit it.
So even if a rich company did buy Ryzom and kick started it again. I doubt the mmo community will change their view of Ryzom.
The main point I want to make is this, and people hear know me well enough to know that I say this not out of anomosity or because I want to see Ryzom burried, because that ain't the case.
But Ryzom won't ever be more then this small community. It won't ever make a huge amount of money. In my opinion it will fail again no matter who buys it. So perhaps we should be glad that this "free Ryzom" Project exists. I think though, that they shouldn't have made a bid this time round.

Unmax, did you read my responses on the goal of ryzom.org? You say what you think their goal is, but you don't respond when I'm trying to prove you"re wrong...
Ashilng, it"s normal, you do not have to thaks. We work as a community, as we want to purchase ryzom, we are intersted on what the community think, so they are all wellcome to discuss with us. More they will do, better it will be.
In the end, if we success, the two communities will a to merge into one and rule the association. We want to give power to the comunity, this include the ryzom community.
People say that ryzom.org don't care about ryzom community, and when we say, we do, come and talk with us, they respond that they don't wan't to talk, it's kite funny I think.

Re: Xavier's still at it :)
yes i read it it made no sense its the focus but its not the focus (doublespeak) I just decided to go with what my gut is telling me at this time which tells me that the emails and information was not only stolen but also misused. Until I can read the information for myself I only have to go with what I read here and for me its looking like your looking to buy the sourcecode which is fine, but the game itself will likely die unless of coures I want to run a server and make my own version of ryzom which I dont. I want to see a healthy SINGLE community and a single version of ryzom that runs well (like what exists now) with new content and events and whatnot added over time and fixed bugs and continued development on tests servers as it is now. I don't want to see a code get chopped up and used in 20 different ways with various ryzom versions running across the planet on low end private servers which is what will happen if this becomes a free sourcecode.tryzovia wrote:Unmax, did you read my responses on the goal of ryzom.org? I do not see how this will become a healthy single community with powerful servers and 24/7 support and 24/7 uptime and regular patches and new content. This is not the ryzom vision this is another vision the ryzom vision is what is on the ryzom.com site now not what a handeful of coders make it into.
sorry that is what I see
Re: Xavier's still at it :)
Yes ryzom has not tapped a huge huge market and anyone that i send to download ryzom in north america loves what they see. I do not consider ryzom to be a failure far from it and I dont want some people to flush it as its not ready for the garbage heap just yet.zanthar wrote: So with that if Ryzom is bought by a new company that can advertise here in the states and all over they very well could breath new life into this game but as you said yourself it is just my opinion
Re: Xavier's still at it :)
Here's the real problem with WoW, it's created unrealistic expectations within companies AND players.final60 wrote:As much as we know it is an amazing game. You don't need to be WoW to be successful.
Ryzom has a niche and it serves it pretty well, not as well as it would have if it had stayed the course but with a realistic plan and the right tools you can serve a niche very well.
It seemed to me that we were growing up until this point, the final blow IMO was overstretching in a last ditch attempt to satisfy the creditors.
Slow and steady wins the race, except when you have finance people badgering you.

Re: Xavier's still at it :)
Quite the contrary. I am interested to see what they would have to say... if they win the bid. Till then all any of us are going to get from all three parties, known or not, is smoke and mirrors.tryzovia wrote: People say that ryzom.org don't care about ryzom community, and when we say, we do, come and talk with us, they respond that they don't wan't to talk, it's kite funny I think.

The goal of the buying purchasing party is make money. Lets not kid ourselves here. If that involves a paying sub, then the community staying happy is a major goal in keeping the company "Profiatble". If the end goal of the company is the coding there is NO need for a community till the coding is covertly morphed into a new project.
The 5th has almost come and gone in Paris and no word (to my knowledge) on any verdicts or delays in judgement. My guess/fear is that if we don't hear anything anytime soon, this project will probably be bought for the code, and Ryzom will be shut down without warning. Jolt contracts would either be null and void or paid off for time remaining on the contract. This is just my fear but still... no news yet.
