Wow... An ATS post. Maybe I should have been more clear. When was the last time you saw a Nevrax employee address any concerns at all in the General forums?

I think that statement it's not true.

After much reading in this forums, in slashdot, in ryzom.org, I think that the real heart of the project is bring a GPL MMOrpg to the Free Software world.

I really doubt that the main objective is save Ryzom. You have been very careful with the free soft world, and very, very little careful with the Ryzom's community.

Maybe you want save Ryzom, but not with the community as is just now.

But my main concern with this project is that the Free Soft is ahead of Ryzom's best interests.

For A i can't talk for xavier but I agree with you. Though it would mean using the hundreds adresses twice...

As for B and D we would be lyers to promise anything so you are right to be worried. Remember thought that other
offers can't promises anything also. If a generous compagnies pop up giving plenty of money to devellop ryzom without money
concern I'll be the first to be happy, I just don't believe it. Big compagnies do not buy unsuccesfull games, they launch new ones.
One point though is that for small addition, clothes for example, it would be a lot easier and faster.

As for C you might have noticed that the interest on a open source projet as produce far more advertisement on ryzom that the ad campaign.

edit: thanks then ;) .

Maybe because the only the free world came to nevrax.org. I will repeat that you are ALL wellcome to come on the site, and discuss with us. If you don't do not blame us.

I do not know Slashdot, do you find free word people or ryzom community members on this site?

Praha, why don't you came in ryzom.org forums to ask your questions?

I know I can't not reliably and not without getting frustrated as changing threads or looking at pages the thing times out on me. I would assume that half those out there who are not close enough to the server to be able to deal with its issues of slowness are going to have the same complaint. Considering the incredibly huge bandwidth and power connection I run on I can only assume that others have something comparible or less. Again I would like to see the information, but can't. When and if those of us trying to pull answers out of people who come here fix that all I can do and probably others do is stay here and ask from here.

Having read the answers that desdi put down though I'm not seeing that this is a save ryzom project that this is in fact a take the code and make it into something else for techs to use project which is something much different then what most players are looking for and for me this appears to be something of a misrepresentation of what people thought the code was going to be used for in the first place which was in fact to keep ryzom alive and allow it to progress further. Since this is not the case and people just want to use the engine for other stuff I dont see this as something I want to pay much attention to because my concern was keeping the game going and not making it into something else. As are most concerns out there. So my question is now why are people trying to pitch this on ryzom.com forums because in essence it has absolutely nothing to do with saving the actual game.

You say that, we don"t agree... I know why I support this project, why thanys, desdi, kervala, lejade.... do support this project. And I think it's more about saving ryzom.
Weel do you know that the engine is already an open source project ? That we can use it ? Why buying something you already have?

I will if they win the bid. Until then it really doesn't matter what I, you or any of us say. We each have our opinion, and I commend those on both sides of the arguement that have kept their cool throughout this thread (assuming there is someone out there to commend). In the end it's not our decision to make.

You might have noticed that I have tried to abstain from mentioning "GNU", "free" or an number of other phrases in this thread. The bottom line is the game is in beta form. It needs work and GNU or not, to survive in a sub-style MMO market the game will continue to wilt until that happens.

If you really can't access the site ( maybe some problem with your provider is also possible ) you still can use the google cache, not really up to date but better than nothing.

I am interested in saving ryzom and others do as well but it's also true that the projet has also an interest behond ryzom, gathering various people even non gamer. Still in the end it would give ryzom a future. As a landmark in MMO scene but also because anyone with sufficent will would be able to maintain a server even if our ambitions* failed.

*ie: develloping ryzom and maintaining an officiel server with a storyline and events.
