Maybe we should all vote for Ryzom on winehq, might bring some dev's attention to it (need to be logged in / create an account to vote)

a good idea, and at the same time put in versions test data... for different distributions.

hi,I have been playing two days, and it works perfectly ,but without sound, because if i ignite the sound, the server disconnect me in a few minutes.
If i unmark the softbuffer option and the eax option and put enable the sound ,it sounds very well. But the server disconect me.

These are some of the messages in the console after the disconnection:

If you want to have sound you need to patch wine with a thread priority patch.
What happens is that the sound driver structure in wine as such a high load that it will choke of the network traffic and you will get disconnected.
With the thread priority patch this evens out, but you will need a high end cpu for the sound not to sound garbled at times.

This is a known limitation on the sound system in wine, and Ryzom is not the only one having this problem.

Personally i have sound turned of, its to much of a hassle...

Wine 0.9.27 is out and works very well, it also fixes the "shift, alt, ctrl garbage" problem.

EDIT: even sound is working in a fashion, dont know if it will work everywhere but at leas for those of you that have soundblasters or other cards with builtin hardware mixing it should be *usable* not great but usable,
i have gotten the best results by turning of soft buffers, setting down max channels a bit, setting OSS drivers in winecfg (alsa in kernel), and to top it off reniceing the client, server and X to +15.... i'l do a write up on the wiki later

ty for info... indeed, wine 0.9.27 works great ;-) ... well, there is still small problem with minimizing ryzom or changing desktop (which is same as minimizing), but i play in wine desktop, so does not bother me ;-)
EDIT: even sound is working in a fashion, dont know if it will work everywhere but at leas for those of you that have soundblasters or other cards with builtin hardware mixing ...
i'm using emu10k1 sound card (SB live 5.1 or something like that) and sound has always worked (alsa in kernel, oss in wine).
and yes, i have always runned Ryzom with "nice -n 19 wine ..." ;-)
