To be fair, it isn't (public) known if the emails were stolen, so please don't use that as a fact.

I wouldn't call it spam either, since Xavier have been in contact with us before (forum and what-not). It was an once-off email to a few, compared to real spam.

Had it been my email that was stolen and then spammed I would be speaking to a lawyer to see what could be down about it!!

I could believe your rightful furor if you proved to me that you talk to your lawyer about every piece of mail you get that is trying to sell you viagra :)

I would rank that a bit as if a salesman changed companies and rang up former customers whose numbers he happened to have in his filofax. Maybe it doesnt win an ethics price, as that would have required to act as if he was completely newborn, but wth... i've seen worse things happen (and yes, i'm sensitive about privacy issues).

I'm talking about the stupid website the 10 page max site and the forums that potential cash cows might surf to in order to contribute to the actual thing (it needs to be up) yes he can pay for a stupid monitored hosting account for that so that the free ryzom campaign doesn't look so bad but he isn't. Also so he's asking you to take all the risks for him? arggh

You dont even need a stupid domain name for the actual development just a server with an IP address you can link to afterwards sheesh

Do not misunderstand my words, the vast majority is surely, and wisely, not taking any position only hoping ryzom will survive whatever may come.

ps: As for the "so wrong quote" not only is it right but I suppose you talk better french than frenchies*... No I won't say "got you there", 'cause we are not playing a game.

*and please do remember that it is an international effort too, just look at the forums, for you are welcome there.
If you consider people trying to reason with you and get you to see their sides flames then I feel bad for you. You dont want negative input or even someone trying to show you the weeknesses of YOUR campaign so you can improve them?

and you say your going to be listening to the community which possibly could include those in this thread? Oh please

people trying to show you what they see is not a flame its input and opinions but all you see is flames? I haven't put one single stupid flame in this thread just input

so here is the long and the short of it

I was in fact impartial to the thing at first I WAS on neither side. I looked at BOTH sides and made up my mind according to what was presented.

a) a guy who took off with email addy's and other information and out of the blue emails peopel without their permission
b) a website that supposedly existed but I could never get to
c) a list of url to places that were put together in a rush being put forward as "great stuf" when in fact its not
d) a bunch of "salesman" trying to pitch a product but who wont even listen to the potential customer base when we try to say something

You've got hard heads I will give you that and you are persistent which is not a bad thing either, but your lack of insight into your own project and its shortcoming is dismal

Well, that may be your opinion, however:

a) ho what did he tooks in plus than some email adresses?
b) A website where some people can't go, in europe it works fine. Sorry if it's does not in america, we do what we can.
d) Maybe, but you know who they are, one of them is ready to talk but none of you had come to the forums or the irc (chat.freenode.net / #ryzom.org) . Some people love Ryzom so much that they prefer it dead than try the ryzom.org project... Don't forget that the heart of the ryzom.org project his to save ryzom. You still do not know what the concurents want to do... And who they are. They must be small companyes if the project officials think we have a chance...

that's a personal attack? Im being honest and you know it. Plus you have in fact put like zero input into this thread just busy making jokes and not actualy addressing something

Let me know when you actualy want to address something seriously otherwise your doing yourself and this campaign a dis service by the way your dealing with it.

I will take it and you seriously when you are serious and not before for now you have only proven what you dont know and not what you do know.

I couldn't have demonstrated by point better without your post. Thanks mate. ( in response to the previous post from ummax not this one.. )

Negative opinions without hostility and hate are, of course welcome. Being constructive it considering both negative and positive.
We don't even pretend that the project is for all, for there are various arguments againts*, it's just that i don't take as valid an argument against a personn ( xavier ) as a valid argument against the community he's in, and not "on top of".
It's just the same with the website, quite poor it is I don't deny it but it serves its purpose and apart from the /. effect works quite well. But thanks to point the difficulty for north american we'll try to improve that.

And that's the only 2 arguments you keep saying on and on each time we answer and this is not sufficient to insult people.

*let's say fuzzyness and open source ideal. Those are serious arguments, for the fuzzyness if time is given we have no choice but to take a better care of presenting thing. As for open source it's principles against principles people have to make their choice on their one but only well informed of what it means.

Doubtfull people are quite right in the absolute: just maybe to shy not to dare, but that's their opinion after all. "Wait and see" is a philosophy that if it spread can only lead to a frozen world, we choose to "act and see".
