to be clear, in no way am i asking people that dont want pvp to participate in pvp.
Im asking them to organise and call in the people that have been waiting for pvp and willing to fight against abuse, something i think will be easyer realised then it may seem.
also it just a safeguard, because i think youll be pleasantly amazed how little youll have to call upon the "karma-police"
You can't introduce conflict into a game and expect the community to stay intact. Conflict within any community has a negative effect on that community be it a game or not. That is the whole point of conflict to disrupt the status quo.

And my issue with this has nothing to do with ganking as such. As from what I have seen ganking on WoW, or at least the servers I was/am on is minimal.
Ryzom will not become a mainly pvp focussed game a any time i think, it will be a part of it but any and all ways pvp system works currently shows it being as a little extra, not at all as a main focus, you said it yourself for allout pvp or any other form of pvp as main game element there are a lot of MMO's out there doing a better job at it.
Ryzoms war between Kami and Karavan and the outposts on Atys is just a transition in the storyline, by no means it means we will stay at war, all the races main goal is to strive for peacefull unity, however at cuurent stance we are nearing an ineviytable war between Kami and Karavan, the pvp should just be a fun extra to it, where people use it to enjoy story driven war events.
First we battled waves of Kitin, now we are nearing a war between Kami and Karavan, maybe next we will be fighting an invasion of Karavan stormtroopers like in that devshot AI driven and all, who knows.
About ganking, i know you dont fear the ganking as you are pretty realistic about how you experince pvp and have the ability to like both PVE and PVP and pherhaps a bit of RP which is a good thing.
I do think however that most people in this thread fear pvp for the associated harrasment and abuse.

In AO the conflict was between The evil mega corportation Omi tec and the semi organized Clanners. The "outposts" were area's where notum could be mined. The result was name calling, mob training, ganking and other nastyness.
The point of off of this is that, while most people can be trusted to "play nice", there are some who can't....

I am getting tired of repeating myself on this thread, unlike many others who just say the same thing again and again without considering what others are trying to explain.
but one last time just incase i can somehow get my point across. PvP IS NOT GOING TO RUIN THIS GAME, its not going to fill up with bored 12 year old gankers. the playstyle required here is of no interest to them.
outposts were tried out in beta, the idea has always been they would be contested by guilds, how can anyone argue they are being denied content because whenever the word PvP is mentioned they have some mental seizure and rant about 133t kids ganking lalala. The feature is designed around guilds fighting, not flower arranging pffffffffffffffft. The friction between Kami and Karavan was always going to result in conflict, I'm sorry if i'm being disrespectful to people but if you took one look at the box or the lore and expected a fluffy, peaceful world with no friction, no fighting then you must be blind and/or a bit thick o.O

I have been playing Anarchy Onlne and have read the Omni-Tek chanels anytime i played, yes there was some language and behaviour thats not very tolerable, or to say in an extreme way: chaotic kids cussing at everything and everyone
the majority seemed pretty distanced from that behaviour tho.
Also AO and RYL and EQ2, Irth, Gunz, Face of Mankind, Ryzom and a load of other MMO's ive played did show me that indeed Ryzoms comunity in al ways it ever has been since beta till now is different from most communities.
The game doesnt attract the chaotic gold fish atention span kind of person, the game doesnt insta-reward your effords and theres no game element that suits them in Ryzom that doenst suit them better in a lot of other games, like WOW, Risck Your Life and pherhaps Darkfall if it ever comes out.
Ofcourse there are always people that dont want to play nice, they just mob-train you for instance.
If you are harased you should report it as harrassment to a GM, if youre harrased within the terms of CoC however, you can call upon pvp willing people i think as a last measure.

You expect to be able to influence that world through your actions.

Ok, hunted around for box and as I purchased the game about 4 weeks after the european server went live it's an early copy. This is a quote from the box 'Epic real-time battles - Fight to the death in vast battles using Ryzom's innovative RAID engine that can depict up to 255 creatures on screen at once, or challange other players in PvP mode.'
So it looks like it's a case of quite a few of us have got used to Ryzom being a PvE game when it was intended to be a PvE/PvP game all along. So it's no longer a question of do we need it as they have a duty to add that part as it was advertised. Which, is a shame!
So ok Ryzom will be PvE/PvP but does anyone know how they intend the PvP mode to work.
