This was all about fun. We proved pretty quick that we had the stronger force and our point was made very clear to Melinoe by the force that showed up to confront them (even if late). The 9 v however few Melinoe were there got old pretty quick and OmegaV (harvesting gear and all) teamed up with them so we could have some actually challenging and fun pvp. From everything I was told and understand OmegaV did not support Melinoe's declaration or take their side on the Nexus. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Fist, you got it. This is a game and is supposed to be
all about fun, like you said. What it seems like happened here is that Melinoe took a stance that they knew would be unpopular in order to bring out some PvP. They took a role and played it (and if they are good roleplayers, they will stick to the role that they declared for themselves in the Nexus). Others took a stance against them, and also chose a role.
What I see happening here is similar to what happened with the now defunct Light of Trykoth: Mellinoe chose an unpopular role to play and now some players are having a hard time distinguishing between what is in-character and out-of-character. What I'm talking about here is the barbs and name-calling aimed at DoubleTap (the player), his guild (the actual players), and those that chose to aid him (again, the actual players). It seems that some people are having a hard time separating the in-game persona from the real-life person directing that persona. Someone who takes a controversial, unpopular, or just plain different stance with their character is
most likely--with the exception of a griefer--doing so for the sake of entertainment and making things interesting, and not because they are a (bleeeeep)hole in real life. I'd really like to see people understand this.
This is a game, and a
roleplaying one at that. People need to realize that players are not their characters. Players should base their realtionships with and attitudes towards other players on what kind of person that player is, not what kind of character he chooses to play.

This is a game and is supposed to be all about fun, like you said. What it seems like happened here is that Melinoe took a stance of declaring nexus off limits for all but karavan under threat of nonconsensual pk which they knew would be unpopular in order to bring out some PvP. They took the role of a [spoiled child/overbearing and rediculous country or tribe/griefer] and played it (and if they are good roleplayers, they will stick to the role that they declared for themselves in the Nexus). Others took a stance against them, and also chose a role. Melinoe got beat down by more powerful forces, and at least one Melinoe member complained that he was the victim of spawn camping by higher level players.
What I see happening here is not all that similar to what happened with the now defunct Light of Trykoth: Mellinoe chose to play the unpopular role of [spoiled child/overbearing and rediculous country or tribe/griefer] and now some players are unhappy that they can't suddenly say "wait wait I'm not out to kill harvesters and anyone else that happens to be in nexus and not karacan my character is. It seems that after choosing the role of [spoiled child/overbearing and rediculous country or tribe/griefer] they are having a hard time with the concequences of those actions and folks are now trying to throw out the what is in-character and out-of-character smoke screen of defense. What I'm talking about here is the barbs and name-calling aimed at DoubleTap (the player), his guild (the actual players), and those that chose to aid him (again, the actual players). It seems that some people are showing a complete lack of interest in separating the in-game persona of a person who tries to make "content" by using harvesters as pawns, from the real-life person directing that persona suddenly unhappy that things werent fair. Someone who takes a controversial, unpopular, or just plain different stance with their character is most likely--with the exception of a griefer--doing so for the sake of entertainment and making things interesting, and not because they are a (bleeeeep)hole in real life. I'd really like to see people understand this.

Players should base their in game realtionships with and attitudes towards other players on what kind of person that player is in game, not what kind of character they choose to play.

First we had a great time.
Second CP came looking for fun and we found it.
DT what did you expect when you declared that it was open season on everyone in nexus?
As we (CP) stated threw out the fight " We were only here to fight whoever had claimed the Nexus as theres" that meant DT and Melinoe. After there butt kicking and when Gfunk and others arrived everyone wanted a free for all just for fun.
We all agreed that it was FOR FUN before we started. Everyone there at the Battle Royal agreed on that. CP has no beef with any guild. Unless you claim a area for yourself (and thats what you did DT).
If anyone has a problem with the "FUN free for all" that we had please contact me. From my understanding it was for fun and only for fun. If you steped into that outpost last night you did it to have fun or at least that was what was said B4 we did it.

Time for a reality check. When you enter a PVP zone, you are given a 30 second warning that you are in a PVP zone, and you may be attacked. You are ALWAYS given enough warning that you can CHOOSE to avoid it. If you CHOOSE not to avoid the possible PVP combat, you can hardly callis 'nonconsensual' killing.

If player killing is not something you care for.. Avoid it. If you choose not to avoid it.. Take it like a man and stop trying to pigeonhole anyone who might actually enjoy the challenge of a player response vs an AI response as a griefer.
And as long as you are interpreting how people are roleplaying.. you may wanna take a look at the how the storyline portrays the Matis race. As far as I can tell, DT fits the racial profile to a T.
And thus, we see the sad and pathetic "well if you don't like it, you can not go there" excuse thrown out. It's very similar to the "If you don't like it you could choose neutral" excuse given in some of the PvP threads recently until the folks giving the excuse were told that neutrals are still killable. It's a brutal fact that melinoe threatened to kill anyone other than karavan's in nexus, not karavans and neutrals, not nonharvesters, not anyone interested in their little party.
All of this talk of roleplay and fun and games, does not change the fact that the these "small" PvP areas are made to use harvesters as pawns.

This is what the game is supposed to be - armed conflict; if you dont like melinoe there, get your own group and fight for your rights.
