Plus the concept that people of the EXACT same fame are antagonistic...Come on The fame system is ALL fubared. They need to figure out who is REALLY friend and who is really foe.

Before I do ANYTHING but "home town" missions for quick cash (fame is piddling on these, so these are NOT the way to build fame if you are sane), I want to see the factions worked out sensibly thank you.
I haven't gotten my head around the fame thing yet, really, either. The only thing I realize is that if I harvest, as a Matis, I'm ticking off the Kami.. I guess by aiding in the destruction of their living world (I mean... the planet's alive.. it'll grow baaaack... right? :-p ). Obviously, the Matis are going to like me if I'm helping them, too.. and so on. But I haven't figured out the dynamics of it all yet.

And.. hmm.. I dunno, is there really a schism between different races? I haven't noticed it - especially with the various "good will" missions I've seen different Guilds going on to other racial lands. Though, I have read something about there being some kind of friction between them. Again, this is another example of something that could/should play out in the gameplay somehow, but seems to exist completely aside and irrelevant of it.

We need to feel more involved! Okay... I'd like to, anyway :-)

There's a question I silently ask myself of any game company whose MMORPG I'm starting out on: "Where are you taking me?"

Or, "What's the point and why should I care?"

Sure there's this on-going struggle and the ever looming threat of the Kitins which I'm part of by simply existing in-game... But am I really helping the cause by killing Caprynis, Yubos and Ragus? What is this all building toward?

That's one of the things I think FFXI did so well - always gave you a sense of why you were doing what you were doing - a "bigger picture" would develop - beyond simply for the sake of doing it.

Can't say I've really figured that out yet in SoR... I'm hoping the upcoming additions to quests and what-not will provide some answers, though.

That's why I have started to map out what fame is awarded when you finish a mission for groups. Would be great if other people helped me gather information.

why do I think that that map would look like the family tree of an adopted person, if they mapped BOTH families?!

Raynes...I would help you...if I could make ANY sense out of it.

I mean foraging is EASY. Pick...dirt...dig...take

I mean crafting is easy. Insert materials hit craft, take items repeat

Fame...Holy MOLEY, sometimes it reminds me of the social circle at a JUNIOR high, where loyalties shift like Fyrosian desert sands.

I mean shouldn't the Zorai and Fyrosians be CLOSE buds? Same path spiritually, right? I don't get why these two aren't at least on even terms, maybe not possitive towards both, but not negative.

I understand the tense "goodwill" between Matis and Tryker. NO slave loves his former master and NO master likes a freed slave, faith or NOT!

And as far as everything else. when I travel I run past it...if it kills me...I write it down as BAD guy, if it is NOT a major city and it doesn't kill me...I am surprised.

Raynes, blessings to you on your journey of mapping. Been there, done that, only on material nodes (which do NOT change, fame...I think it does).

It's really not as difficult as it seems. When you complete task missions for the various races and tribes in game they change fame levels. Their either add fame, take fame away, or both. No matter what race you are they will always award or deduct fame from the same groups. The amount they might add or deduct might change, but not who they award it to. The only time who the fame is awarded to is if you add new tribes to your fame list. Even then the old fame awards still remain.

So basically all you have to do is when you finish a task mission write down the what it does to fame levels. (You can see it in the system window).

I too am also concerned about the current change in the storyline. I was guilded with Mellodi and wanted to carry my character back into the favor of the Kami, but with these changes and the implementation of the Encyclopedia, im concerned.
Is this how Nevrax originally intended to move the story along, having two sides each composed of two races of homin? Are those of us who decided to go against the grain and choose the opposing religion denying ourselves of an actual future in the game because of unknown mechainics to come?
Im hoping that the Lore section is something that we can use as concrete to build a character on.
There are so many questions and uncertainties but this is part of the allure of the game i guess. I find myself falling back into the shadows and not supporting either of the two religions and just focusing more on helping those in Aedea Aqueous.
