But um, that's not the problem because the mobs do pose a threat... anyone confused yet? :)

Would it be better that they consitantly hit for more damage instead of having unstoppable attacks? Maybe.

Maybe mobs just need to have more special attacks or skills instead of some generic insta-kill hit. Getting killed because you were blinded and then hit wiith a critical to the head is more acceptable than "inflicted 200 dmg; inflicted 200 dmg; inflicted 20000 dmg; inflicted 200 dmg; ... ".

So then the root problem is that there's no penalty or downtime at all for someone in the group dying... They have to throw stuff like that at us to put groups of players in real danger... I wouldn't want it changed, though -- the game's already so set up towards us dying-a-plenty in most areas. Doh.

Unless they changed everything lol

Ok, if I may be so bold as to try to glean the point of this whole thread, the problem is that the mobs have attacks that the players don't have access to, have no defense against, and tend to die too quickly to. Anything that causes a character to die instantly is just overpowered, especially since we CAN'T do that to the mobs, unless they are many, many levels below us, and those mobs tend to give zero xp.

Is that what you're trying to say? If so, then I agree, but if not, please state your point more clearly, in fewer words ;)

I COULD add some of the issues I've seen with the current combat system... but I won't *hehehe*

Geez, OK, so what was the point? I thought the topic made it clear, and I said I agreed that it was a bad thing for our tanks. The rest of my posts are just commentary and thoughts on all the derailed/related stuff being talked about. Is there something other than the topic that I missed? There were a lot of points in your original post. Just tell me if the point's not what the topic is :P
