If all fighters used affliction magic, they wouldn't really be fighters Plus, you're saying your fighter (who is also a mage) should be able to concentrate on spells whilst swinging a weapon - you can't do this to the fight system, it'll be damn unbalanced if you do. The idea with affliction/damage over time spells is that you can use the spell for a time, but only if you concentrate fully on the cast. Anything less would be inviting uber-ness
Also I don't see your point with healing and elemental magic - how you do mean you can use them without problems? Those spells aren't linked at all, they don't do damage/repair damage over time, so how are they connected to time-based spells being broken by other actions? You can't attack whilst healing - you heal, then attack, then heal, then attack - it's just an unconnected sequence?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not shooting you down - you just need to know that your request is basically a request for uber-solo-abilities, and it aint gonna happen for several good reasons
2nd how is wanting to create an "uber" character not going to happen.... were going to stay noobs the rest of our lives?
3rd what is wrong with the idea of mages actually wanting to be able to defend thereselves? we have only our dodge to rely on to keep us alive and guess what.... its not even implemented when you press P and check your char stats you will notice your dodge mod stays the same ammount as your highest skill even if you equip a supreme set of dodge mod armour....
