I am one of those who suggested this thing ('crafted-by' labels) but I offered it as an idea for a purchased action skill (like the add HP skill) that can be used or not used, item to item, as the crafter desires. I also suggested an additional cost to use the skill (like the dappers to create the sap ball (?)) to avoid overuse. I think that is an option that will respect all crafters privacy while allowing those who wish to be a merchant crafter a bit of paid advertizing.
I thank the developers for paying attention to the many varied requests and suggestions they receive from this lively and active community. I like to think that they are doing the more easily achievable things now and really concentrating on getting the major changes closer to right before they release them. And you idea did have merit, unfortunately it doesn't appear to have been implemented in that way. For those of us who do not wish to be further burdened in tells, or remain completely anonymous, the current implementation is causing a bit of a stir. A simple option of making your wares 'unmarked' would be ideal imo.

Or at least think about the wording of your posts of "agreement" in general. Considering my level of upset at this latest development and inconsideration on the part of the devs (and possibly others), your post wording was in very bad taste to say the least.

I for one like the names being added to the items. If you don't, then don't sell things on merchants, only to friends, they will either bug you as much as normal, or you can tell them to go away.

As for recieving many tells, you don't need to answer them, and it's easy enough to report/ignore someone once you've told them you don't take commisions. Heck, you can make a macro that says "no commisions" to hit when you get a request.
As for why this was added, in addition to being something that was requested by many (and until people actaully start getting lots of tells out of the blue, then no complaining!), and it was information that was already attached to the item, so it was relatively simple to simply make it displayed.

mikwana, I take it you haven't had the pleasure of getting multiple tells in a row while dodging mobs in unfriendly places, and the lag that is caused by the new tell windows. It's a little disruptive to gameplay.
And people sometimes grind on worthwhile mats that make good gear, and would enjoy the extra income that comes with the resale of the item to the public, and the anonyminity(spelling?) that used to be enjoyed by higher level crafters. Now these higher level crafters wont be putting their wares out on the market because people will be sending them tells for gear. And it opens up an avenue for beggars out there trying to mooch stuff off from them.
It's one thing if the player wants to offer their services, it's completely different when someone doesn't want to publicly state their crafting ability to everyone. Choices, it's what makes people happy.
Case in point:

Yet, as with patch 1, if it were always in the game would you be asking to have it removed?
As for the 'lag from tells during combat', I think it's being exagerated. Unless you are the main tank in a group, then you shouldn't be getting hit. If you are the main tank, then you can take hits, as you should be getting healed. If you are soloing and fighting something that is that close of a fight that you need to worry about a quarter second or less lag spike (and likely much less than that), then you are pushing it anyway. And with the queing system for actions it's not even that detrimenal to have a slight spike.
As for the begging, there are always those idiots that will send a tell to people out of the blue asking them for things. At least this way we all don't hear it

. Seriously though, if you tell someone once, and they ask again, then ignore, it's that easy, and you'll never have to hear from them again.

yeah i guess the main healer or any healer or blinder in the group is totally and utterly useless. if the healer goes down due to lag then the group stands a chance of going down, fat lot of good the tank will do if he can't be healed.
i personally lag 3 or 4 secs if not more when i start or get the initial /tell window. and yes a party can be wiped out in that time or at least beyond the point of return at that point

There is an ignore feature in the contacts window. When you get a tell asking you for your crafted items, send the person a message saying no, and then add them to your ignore list.
With the low population I've seen on the server, it doesn't seem like that many people would be /telling for items anyway. As long as you continue crafting and selling to vendors, the buyers will go to the vendors and not bug you at all.
When/If this game grows to a large population, it may become a bigger problem.
How about everyone gives the system a chance before complaining about it? I'm guessing most of the people who have posted that they will be getting constant /tells from people for their items haven't even logged in yet. If you are in game and it really is as annoying as you all say it will be, then go ahead and scream about it on the forums. But please, until you've actually experienced a problem with it, hold your complaints.
I'm not trying to stifle opinions, I'm just wishing people would try something new before attacking it.

I wasn't talking about tells in combat, I was talking about getting tells while dodging aggro mobs threading your way through some VERY high density aggro area, where that 'half-second' (more like 1-2 second lag on less agile machines) literally is the difference between life and respawn.
And yes, there are beggars now, but this gives them active targets. Nothing screams 'beg from me' like someone putting up q150+ items on a vendor. And I'd imagine some people wouldn't be so big on crafting if this was implemented from the start. They shy away from being high profile, prefering to be anonymous. It's like the option of having an unlisted number. Some people just don't want everyone knowing their address/phone number. Once again, its their choice. Try and look at it from their point of view, instead of your own.
