UPDATE: i have just found out that the worst effect i feared (that of contaminating my guildies fame) is incorrect. so panic level much reduced. I am still not able to run fame missions without negative impact (which sucks cause i was guild fame officer) but others in my guild can still run fame without hammering fame in the tribes that i opened to the guild.

sources: mostly Zoraii (non-tribe) NPCs, although i think a Kami also gives wonky fame.
i have also found matis NPCs that give fyros fame, tryker that give zorai and kami fame, and maybe something off with one of the fyros NPCs i tried as well.
So you think doing Zorai missions gave you those other ones? Was it the Zorai hunter or ones like the Corporal ones? It's interesting becuase those are all very high level tribes.

as already mentioned in the english community equivalent of this post, there is now also a translated version of the problem for german players.

So far i have had a GM confirm with a Zoraii scout, and I have replicated the problems with a Hunter as well. Mostly I get missions from the wandering NPCs rather than the ones in cities. Also I do missions in all the high zones....
I havent hit corporals or other city folk yet. One or two of the cities does have seargents or other high level corporal-types, with missions for the high zones, and i can certainly check those (and look carefully to see what fames i get when i do their missions)
I may also sweep through our Q150 and Q100 zone today and check things. The worst that happens is i get even more messed up fame....

I feel like I came out of a meeting with Gandhi, and was arrested because they thought i'd been meeting with Pol Pot
issue kicked up to nevrax for review. poll up.

Ok, my fame research has come to this conclusion.
For ever positive fame hit there is an equal and opposite negative, wether or not you have the tribe in your list, being visible at the time you do the fame.
There are no postive only hits, meaning it only effects Matis fame, if it effects Matis fame counters, it WILL effect Zoria or Tryker or even Fyros either positive or negative.
Also the strong the positive hit = stronger negative hit.
One mission I did gave me 3 positive hits, 2 with Matis, 1 with Greenseed, it also gave me 3 negative hits, 1 leverie (however it was spelled), 1 for zoria, and 1 for kami.
This is following true to the design of the game, for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
You can't be friends with everyone it seems.

patently false. i can run 100 kami missions, open a karavan tribe, have 0 personal fame with that tribe. if it affected not yet visible ones, i would not get 0 personal to start. a single kami mission after opening can hit for -3 or -4.
zumwalt wrote:There are no postive only hits, meaning it only effects Matis fame, if it effects Matis fame counters, it WILL effect Zoria or Tryker or even Fyros either positive or negative.
also false. since game inception there have been missions that gave +matis (and only that, no +karavan or -kami attached) there are missions that give +kami with no -karavan, and missions that give +karavan with no -kami (although these will affect racial and/or tribe faction) i have in fact found one karavan mission that gave +karavan, and thats it.

actually, fame incrases like experience. you get X fame points for a mission. It takes y fame points to raise from fame 10 to fame 11. it takes 2*y points (or something like it) to raise from 20 to 21. So if a mission hits 2 things, one in which i have +40 and the other in which i have -20 -- it will behave as you describe.

this may or may not be true *if* you had all tribes and all factions exposed. But as noted at the top of this reply, there is no negative hit to a tribe you have not personally made contact with - it is possible to get nine pluses and no minuses other than karavan, i've done it. there may even be a mission i can get nine pluses and no minuses from...

Actually that isn't correct. If you go to the locate Kippe fame missions from the Corporals in Zora, they will only give you an increase in Zoraii fame. No negative hit happens.

There have been a number of issues with the last week that should have caused a rollback. Some are even exploitable and have been reported.
