If the game isn't busted, then i'm also a drooling retard. It is possible to get xp, but you have to fight mobs of your level. And as anyone who has been playing or reading the forums will tell you, fighting a mob your level is impossible, unless there are about 6-7 other people with the same level helping out, and even then, most of your time is paying back dp's from then entire team being taken out because some gingo that's 70 levels lower then you took out a healer or a fighter in 3 shots and the team went down. it happens all the time.

I think it's absolutely digusting that not a single official responce regarding our pleas has been given considering there's really only 3 possibilities...

1) Suck it up, it's gonna stay like this.
2) You're right, we're gonna rethink this and get back to you.
3) oops, we did nothing, and all our customers left us, and now we're broke.

Now, i'm not saying that they have to come out with a patch 20 minutes after the patched patch came out, but maybe just a "oops we are looking into it"

Anyways, even with the broken game, i'm going to play until my free month is up. Here's something for the programers...

IF Game.HasBeenFixed = False AND Game.FreeMonthDone = True THEN
Subscription.Cancel()
Forum.PasteDisgust("Don't Buy this game")
Me.ReferGameToFriend = False
ELSE
Me.PayMoney("Nevrax", "1year")
Me.PlayRyzom = true
Me.PlayEQ = false
Me.PlayWoW = false
END IF

I can't really see how they could just let it slip between their fingers.

This is what I do not understand. The free trial of Ryzom begins tomorrow. One of the most anticipated sequels in MMORPG history ships tomorrow. The open beta of one of the most anticipated new MMORPG's begins open beta (you guessed it) tomorrow.

Frankly, I didn't care about the latter two at all, until patch 1 hit. I was looking for something new to play after I got completely tired of another game (the one jjm still enjoys from time to time), and Ryzom seemed to fit the bill, despite the current lack of content. I was content just to learn the game mechanics and roll different characters until patch 2.

Instead, I'm now with the 'middle' crowd, waiting for something positive to happen before I reactivate my subscription. Since I'd really like something to play, I also pre-ordered another game (if I knew loyats, and we were friends, I guess there would be an intervention, heh).

I can only speculate the terrible timing on Nevrax's part is due to the pressure put upon them by the two aforementioned titles. However, it is suicide to try and outmuscle two 400 lb. gorillas. Instead, they should be outsmarting them. I believe they were succeeding before patch 1, but if they don't fix things before their free trial, I'm afraid they'll be ripped to shreds. That would be a shame, indeed.

I feel the same way. I'm waiting and hoping it gets better. If not, then I'll find a new game to play. I've seen this so many times. Games that seem to be fun, get exploited into the ground by others. Then the giant nerf comes.

Since I have the amazing, apparently rare ability to adapt, I'm staying.

Some of us are levelling quite fine, using magic or fighting skills. It's not a trick, it's called :"Adapting to the changes."

You sir, are a rare and amazing beast. I can only shudder and quake in the mere awe of how mighty you are. The (at the time of this posting) 60% of the rest of the community, myself included, are obviously quite inferior to you and we can only hope to be one day as powerful and as skilled as you are.

Please inform us how your mighty powers of "adaptation" save you from the eventual death to two monsters a third your level who will attack you while you are attempting to defeat something only half your level. I await eagerly your reports of victory in this area, since it may offer hope to the rest of us who cannot seem to acomplish this feat of valor.

Exactly. Reality is, for experienced MMORPGs, no game is too difficult. Sorry, but that is the simple truth. The only question is whether the game is worth playing. Period.

Problem with that statement is it does not include the "real" MMORPG players who left. It does however imply that only a "real" MMORPG player could overcome the frustration of the recent changes to the combat sytem.

Until the last patch, remember.. you could not even reach Level 1 without a team.

I would rather view this as Some have overcome, some won't overcome, some can't overcome - but it all points to one distinct fact. The game was seriously impaired by by the radical swing in the combat/spell system.

I'm not sure what I'm doing differently, exactly, but I'm defeating monsters that drop level 46 items as a level 53 melee, dual wielding daggers (against Gingos) or 1h sword + dagger (against Ragus, slightly lower in level). I'm taking out herbivores that drops mid-40s items without trouble as well, and earning a fair bit of XP per kill.

Basically, I can kill every monster I was able to kill previously, except for the Baying Ragus (haven't tried, actually), with only slightly more risk than before (I did increase my HP and HP regen rate significantly this time around, maybe that was the difference?)

EDIT: I should add, in most cases, if the monster's twin or younger brother joins in, I can still survive, using self heal carefully. If an older brother shows up, I am probably chow, but then again, I was before the patch.

I am staying and still enjoying the game. However, I don't believe for a minute that the people experiencing problems with the combat system are "drooling idiots" or "whiners" or "exploiters".

Many of the people unhappy with the combat changes are people I have also teamed and played with, and I know from personal experience spending in game time with them that this is not the problem.

The problem is, too many changes were made very abruptly, to a combat system that, while it had its exploits and flaws, people were generally happy with and understood.

Now, I am not one of the very fortunate few who understands how to play or level effectively in a team with the new changes. Instead, I have just gone out there with the few friends still doing hunting and exploring, and we've just done our best to put our heads together and find stuff that still works. For example, I recently did a Majestic Gardens mission tour with some people in my guild who would in the past have been way too busy out there in the big league areas to mess around killing gingos, counting kipees, and eradicating the local weeds. Everyone on the mission team said they had fun and would like to do it again. But... it's the same missions, done in the same area, with minimal rewards and typically nearly zero xp... so, I don't think that will hold too many people thru to Patch 2.

For all those saying "just tough it out or go away" well, to put it quite bluntly, we are in a tiny minority of 'true' Ryzom fans and there are two really high profile MMORPG's coming out. If enough of these people some of us are slapping around on the forums actually leave for greener pastures elsewhere, even if some of them were to decide to come back later and give it a try... there will be no game. For those of us who paid for a year of gameplay, there is not likely to even be a refund for the time they can't provide.

It's in our best interests as fans of the game who still really like it and who look forward to what's promised, to encourage the dev team to very quickly make some adjustments to combat in order to keep more of the playerbase.

Bashing them or treating them like losers or fools will only drive them away even faster. Once, the biggest and best draw Ryzom had, even back in Open Beta, was the mature, helpful, thoughtful community that made up the majority of the player base. If we begin to be perceived instead as meanspirited, harsh, sneering, judgemental people, we could be talking ourselves right off the Ryzom servers and taking the game to oblivion with us.

Just something to think about from an admittedly diehard Ryzom fan.

Understandable, at your level...that is certainly true. Some of us are between 50-100 and are totally screwed at solo, unless we are bottom feeding on much lower levels. Which, is sour and boring. I truly loved being a Mage. Now i hate it. I have Maxed out DP and heave been unable to get back even to square one, you will soon see.

I have a 30 Fyros melee, no problem bottom feeding there, but who wants to spend 6 months or more within a stones throw of a major citiy as it is too unpredictable to travel elsewhere.

I would love to here from some over level 200 players, what is the upper game like since patch fiasco?
