The karavan are the ancestors of the human race, just like Jenna and Elias Tryton, i swear to you. Okay it's really just a hunch, sort of how I can guess how a movie ends before making it 30 minutes in. Hominkind is just an experiment to create the next generation of space settlers and Atys is just a man-made biological platform on which to test said experiments. I for one am sticking with the karavan and when i have a cool arm cannon and really neat leather and strap armor i might think about coming to save your butt from the Kami/ Kitin plots.

Oh, I'm just teasing anyway. I don't think you're far from the truth, though I don't know if the Kami are experiments or purposeful tests for experiments. I imagine they're the endemic people of Atys, but it would surprise me if they were behind the new boost in creature power. The Kami have a very close relationship with the Zorai, and the Zorai are getting pulverized just like everyone else. I suspect the new breed of walking death has more to do with the Dragon or the goo. Kami aren't behind the goo; they've told the Zorai to fight it wherever they find it, if I recall correctly. I'm sure we'll learn more as we go, hopefully with the aid of the encyclopedia.

That makes sense. "Okay, we'll need several types of lifeform if we're going to invade new planets- one for each type of terrain. The easiest way to grow them will be to seed the DNA in appropriate regions of a manufactured planet and accelerate the evolution. We'll also place some minor animal DNA in order to hone their defense mechanisms and offensive capabilities."

Sometime later...

"We have a problem. The accelerated evolution has not only evolved the DNA we planted; it has also accelerated the evolution of several strains of bacteria and the planet itself. Vegetation is growing wildy out of control and a new lifeform [Kami] has cropped up. Furthermore, the planet appears to be developing some sort of ectoplasmic antibody goo that is rapidly turning the entire environment hostile."

Later..

"The Kami bacteria strain seems to have made first contact with our jungle seedlings. Said seedlings, awed by the bacteria's abilities, have begun to worship them. Interestingly enough, the bacterial race has taken the seedlings under their protection and have taught them how to fight against the antibody goo."

Etc, etc.

To put it quite simply: exactly. This is where I'm seeing this story heading atleast somewhat. Therefore I say again, go Karavan.
