Thanks for providing those details. :)

Back on topic, publicity is already beginning to be generated, and there is a chance that interaction with the open-source community will indeed fuel Ryzom's development.

I'd probably have no problem with open source if it weren't for the fact WG don't have the resources for it and as we already know, they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. So yeah... It should go well. Not to mention Ryzom doesn't really have much of a following anyway since no one has heard of it. :p

Yep, pretty much it mate. Both subs run out in a week, timed it well I reckon...

Thousands of people have become aware of Ryzom in the past few days, and that's a conservative estimate with mitigating factors included.

This is all a really good chance for Ryzom to get a bunch of new long term subscribers and now player creators but (there always seems to be a 'but' with ryzom) WG really could have positioned the game a bit better for all the anticipated press and new players... You know like shine it up, fix some of the more pressing problems (the market system), rites, etc. I'm afraid people will come play it, be turned off due to sandbox boredom, and turn to using the code to do something different. Then again maybe new players will see potential in the sandbox and stay and create. bit of a gamble it seems.

err no. I just think fixing the market so it doesn't cater to grinders, finishing the rites to provide some story content and entertainment, and just generally making some changes that would keep players playing after they got levels.

Sandboxes are fun but anyone who actually played in one knows theres only so much one can do with sand, additional elements, resources, and tools are needed to hold your attention.
