Medium quality plans a ripoff? I think so.

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Matis med light & normal light CAN be seen at a glance. The change to high qual is even more obvious.

Go to Avalae and take a look at the captain and the raw mat dealer, they stand right next to each other. The captain is wearing high qual heavy, the mat dealer low qual heavy. Day & night.

Ha, another bug!!!! Everyone knows that the mat dealer makes much more money than the captain, thus the dealer should have the high quality armour - just like in real life. ;)

What I was saying originally was not better stats or anything like that, but simply the different look IMO does not justify 40sp.

I say leave the stats etc the same, just make the plans a lot more obviously different from the regular stuff, so people can see at a glance it's med or high quality.

I paged a GM because I thought that a medium plan should do something for my weapon. He said that its just a cosmetic change to signify a higher level crafter and there is a rumor that it increases the durability of the weapon. (a gm said this so it might be/become true?).

No, you dont need to get these plans, as they are just fluff to signify that you are a high level crafter and making higher quality stuff. You can easilyt stick with the boring basic all the way if you wanted.

But really, what the medium plans do IS IN THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THe GAME.. I say this in caps because there is absolutely no reason to complain about a skill that is described in the manual that came with the game:

As you advance as a crafter, you will begin learning equipment plans labeled as medium or high quality. These items, while offering the same usability as the items lower-level craftsmen create, have a much fancier appereance. Being able to craft these items is a mark of prestige.
So really it is just fluff, if you rtfm you would know its just fluff, so no real discussion here? :) They didnt trick anyone, just if people dont rtfm then its their fault... ? :)

For some people the look is more important than the stats... I'd rather wear a nice looking armor with uniform colours than a collection of different parts of various colours which are the most uber I could wear... but hey it's just me; I got the med quality things as soon as I could :p

Oh really? RTFM? Perhaps you should try reading my posts before jumping in. I've already said (quite clearly I thought) I'm not looking for increased stats, but that the difference in appearance does not IMO justify 40sp. Yes, if you read the manual it states "have a much fancier appereance".

I don't believe simply changing the shoulder pads from brown to gold is a "much fancier appearance". Perhaps the high quality plans are different, but I'm not talking about high quality plans, I'm talking about MEDIUM quality plans - even the THREAD TITLE QUITE CLEARLY STATES MEDIUM QUALITY PLANS. I too say this in caps because it's apparent some people are so busy with reading the manual they don't read people's posts fully before attempting to correct them.

Oh what's the point?

And I wrote several times already than you sleeves are a bad example, because they have the least changes comapred to the other light armor items. The whole med qual set is easily distiguishable from the low qual set.

Med qual *is* pretty much in the middle between low & high qual in looks...

Tryker medium quality look medium armour (male) is the best looking Medium Look plan set, and medium quality look heavy armour (female) is a close second.

The HIGH quality plans have a huge jump in Looks, I remeber when I had High quality look Hvy Tryker armour (Female) and it was WOW this is the best ever.

in case it hasnt been said yet, in response to neun's post i am quite sure once you reach lvl 150 in any branch you will be able to make all high ql items, not just the ones in that specific branch.

secondly you get loads and loads of crafting SP, maybe currently its rather slim because most of you will be under lvl 100, but once you get all the basic plans, some boosts and such there wont be much more to upgrade (unless ofcourse you put some SP in ranged, theres loads of plans over there (5x3 ammo plans and 5 weapons)

after that i suppose people might start getting other race plans...

what i'm worried about is how on earth i'm ever going to reach lvl 150. currently at lvl 105 need maybe 15 ql 110 heavy vests for 1 lvl , thats 26x15 = 390 ql110+ mats for one level.... and it will need more and more the higher you get. Only way is by getting raw mats up to lvl 100 in a month or later to be able to grind from there on...

As for the med/high ql thing: not only it looks better but it also gives you some advantage over others offering the same items but they are giving normal ql and you are giving med ql. Besides that i would like to see some other use for med ql ofcourse.

Just to be very clear on this.....

In the FBT you need to be lvl 150+ in each branch for the HIGH QUALITY LOOK plans.

Yes that is 150 hvy vest = High quality look heavy vest plan @ 50 sp

150 in hvy vest won't let you buy any other High Quality Look plan!

So unless they have changed it. This is the way its....

When you get to level 100 in a branch, right click on the High Quality Plan and check the requirements....

The will be:
Medium quality hvy vest plan
+Skill level 150 in Heavy vest.

So let the bun fight begin.....

My 2p's worth .... The High quality look plans are exceptional just check out some of the shiney NPC to see what i mean.

They are worth the effort of all that crafting and will be a great prize for those who can make/buy them.

Make sure we don't end up with High Quality Stuff as widely available as Prime Roots Supreme Mats, which seem to be as common as shop bought ql10 basic mats.
