Rules, guidelines and courtesy exist for the benefit of the community. I pay to play and if I decide the game I want to play involves annoying the hell out of people, resulting in those people leaving the game ..... I don't see how the community benefits.
Ryzom has always been ranked at the top for the quality of its "community" and if this was the modus operandi, that position would never have been gained.
Ever take off from work to wait for the cable guy to show up ? .... What was your reaction when he didn't show....."Ah, he works for a living, if he wants to goof off and drag his butt and only hit half of his scheduled appointments, nobody forced you to take a day off from work, did they ? To my mind, the mindset shouldn't change just because you have something to gain.

Marie, if you want more op war action, create that without me... Night Hawks goals - take Demons op in any cost...
forgot to say: we destroyed community op program for free that op from "neutral" hands... what we must destroy now?.. =)

Mokoi wrote:The Arispotle server and the CSR team have used common sense in the past regarding general gameplay behaviour and rules, but lately we have had increase requests to post some sort of guidelines similar to the French server.
I will therefore post a translation in the near future, alas with all lists of "rules" there will be debate so it will still be left to the discretion of your CSR team for final rulings.

SGM Arispotle
It will be Le ballet de la Merlaison on OP-wars?
Do not want to begin looking for a new game...

1. Make strong Alliance, not a Coffeehouse. Decide what to do with fellow karamists friends.
2. Think about new strategy. If you plan War, then plan War, not a picnics.
3. Think about new tactics. There were many unused possibilities in last Loria Stronghold war for example.
4. ???????
5. PROFIT
...and then the smell of napalm in the morning will bring pleasure...

Comparisons to real war don't hold true. In real life your army would have died and not respawned to push the button tomorrow. Therefore constant attacks with no chance to win borders on harassment. As it has been pointed out this isn't real armies paid 24/7 to protect their turf but a game where people have lives outside of this world. Valid attacks with you also interrupting your schedule and making an honest attempt to take an op are playing fair but declaring and forcing others to miss sleep/work or other real life commitments while you continue your life are an imposition and not good for the game or community.

The fact that people live on different continents in different time zones - it is their own personal problems.
For me there was not a big problem to wake up at 0300 - 0400 am, visit the siege and after that go to work. Or take a day off from work when the siege took place in the daytime. Because if I play the game - this is seriously for me. It's becomes the part of my life and my soul.
And if something during the siege went not as it was expected - it's not an harassment, it's just another in-game event, the same as other in-game events in the life of the server. Be simplier and everything around you will be easier.
If it's hard for you to find time for online games - play offline games. When and where you want and without any interruption to your precious busy time.
And enough to talk that the war in MMORPGs is not like the war in the real world. It's well known even to children.
But this does not mean that the strategy and tactics of the realworld will not be operateable in MMORPG.
