Sorry people but i'm in agreement with robin, and actually no i'm not sorry, why should I apologise for my opinion. This game was excellent when i first started playing it but due to lack of content it gets boring very quickly.
Also there are some things in the manual that are'nt in the game, mounts for example.
You don't go into a shop and buy a squashed piece of chocolate and the guy that owns the shop says, "sorry mate but we need to get some of the money back form what we lost ordering the chocolate".
I'm afraid this is yet another MMORPG that has been released in Beta.
Lets all hope for WOW or EQ2 although the latter I am hearing bad things about, looking at the website for the game I can't imagine it being bad but who's to say after all the false promises from other companies.
Sorry Nevrax but this could have been a great game, another thing I noticed is the inbalance of starting nations. I got to lev 85 2 handed mellee and it's impossible for me to go solo further than fleeting garden without being killed so I gave tryker a go and at lev 10 I was adventuring all over the place, lake lands yes but lev 10 matis and you are stuck around yrkanis until lev 20 at least.

I've cancelled my subscription to SoR and haven't played it in about five or six days. At first I played ity religiously, and recommended it to everyone. I'm sorry to say I'm glad the distribution was screwed up, otherwise I might have had people spend money they shouldn't have.
I honestly don't see how this game can be called complete. Yes, MMORPGs always have issues at launch, and yes new things are always added, and no you've never got enough for everyone. But there's a difference between a handful of mob drops being broken, a little balance issue between a mage and a fighter, and a broken quest - and mob drops being nigh useless, there being barely any balance whatsoever, and there not actuallty being any quests. That's the one I see as the proof the game was released unfinished. It's not that the quests don't all work, it's not that the quests aren't balanced for the right levels, it's that there are no quests, and it's not as if Ryzom isn't talking about having them, as evidenced by those patches. In addition, when I walk into a town and see half the people named with a placeholder name instead of their real name, or when I find a group of Green Seeds who number at least thirty and have five or six names between them, I just do not see the argument that the game was ready for release. There's a difference between content issues and content absence.
Now, look at City of Heroes. They released that game before it was finished, but they handled it well - they didn't bother with the high-level content, indeed not allowing one to pass level 40. Not that many people even reached 40 before the limit was upped to 50, and because of that instead of people whining about the lack of content, they merely whined about the dev love for high levels, as they saw it.
I'd like to believe Ryzom could make it. I really would. But I can't advocate it, and I suspect others can't either. The rush to beat WoW and EQII was flawed, they should instead have delayed it until some time after those games were out, because if they had released a finished game then, they'd be in a far stronger position than they are in now, where people are leaving in droves. I think Robin is right. It's most likely a struggle to recoup whatever costs they can before the plug is pulled. And I'm sorry to be so pessimistic about the game, because I really do think the premise has potential, and the ideas in Ryzom are very, very interesting.

Fighting in CoH was fun, plenty of mobs to fight, various super powers with some hilarious ones (super jump / teleport), but that's about it. Instanced missions, always the same mobs, always the same backgrounds for buildings, etc... There wasnt that much contents at release of CoH, even super groups missions were bugged.

I'm amazed at the hostility of some of you people. If you played Horizons, then you know what a much better game this is only about a month after going live. Horizons is still screwed up beyond recognition almost a year after release.
The reality is that game companies will continue to release games when they are ready to. The game may not "be ready" by my, your or anyone else's opinion, but if the game company is ready, it's going to release. It's a matter of degree. Relatively speaking, this game is head and shoulders above Horizons. To me, that's a step in the right direction.
You'll never get everyone to boycott a product. Some folks are more tolerant than others. If people still play Horizons, claim they are having fun and will continue to do so, then that leads me to believe that the devs could polish a turd, release it, and some people would oooo and ahhh over it.

I think if you're a pre-packaged, choose your own adventure, quest hunter I don't imagine you would like this game because I never saw the questing as a focus point at all for Ryzom. There are 5 bullet points on the home page of the Ryzom website to define what the game is. 4 of them are generic MMO stuff and yes, one specifically says quests, but the one point that stuck out to me was

and to me, and I think I can speak for the members of my guild, and my guild and friends that is THE single most important aspect of the game. Quest smest. I played Everquest for over 6 months and the few "quests" I actually participated in were assanine and pointless. What the quests amount to in this game, which I think is fitting, is a way of giving direction to the directionless. If you're not sure what to kill, forage, craft, or explore, they are there to give you a multiple choice answer vs. fill in the blank. My guild and I have been playing 5-18 hours a day involved in our own quests and missions, accomplishing things that others have dared not or died trying, and have been WAY more fullfilled than any pre-programmed questing system can satisy.
Now I know someone's gonna say, "Where are the raids? No one's been raided! Nothing's changed!" etc. etc. But people have to keep in mind that this game was laid down from the get-go as an 8 year evolutionary story and we aren't even out of month 1 for the NA players.
I'm really not trying to aggrevate anyone by putting down the importance of quests. Just for me they are inconsequential and boring and so personally I'm glad they haven't wasted a lot of time on them in this game. People who do like them and have a good time with them, probably just aren't going to enjoy the game and that's ok. With the plethora of MMO's out right now they've got to individually become more niche and appeal to varying groups of folk, rather than just one uber-MMO.

Personally, if I ever quit a game, I just stop posting in its forums. There really is no point in posting your opinions on how it could have been better. All of it has been said. I have found games that I have abandoned become polished after a few years, even to the point of being best game of the year... like AO for example. There is really no point in complaining about a game that is a little over a month old.
That said, everyone has a different opinion of how the game should be. If they listened to every one of us and changed the game, somebody will be unhappy. Just let them make the game as per their vision. All these complaints are just slowing down their improvements to the game.

Thank you for the kind words, Cerest . Personally, I try and keep things in a mostly fair and objective perspective (whoah.. that rhymed! cool! :-p )... and I like to think I succeed most of the time.
Just seems some people can't be disagreed with without feeling personally attacked, and conversely, some can't disagree without attacking. Kinda sad. Just doesn't make sense to me.
