The best crafts to have on Silan are Jewels or Heavy Armor, since they are pretty much the only ones that are not outclassed by mission rewards.

Count me in as another weapons vendor (pikes+maces) when available.

Kirosta mats + dung resin > silly Ranger armor... :p
But curse that Fire & Wrath.

Hmm... found my old notes. Someone told me the maximum quality for foraged materials (on Silan) was 45, and mob mats was 50. There's no resin equivalent from mobs, or are the stats with dung resin worth the loss of 5Q? *checks list of armor lining* Huh. It's all plant moss and herbivore parts. and I guess there's none of those of high enough level.
and if the mats only go up that high... then that means it's pretty difficult to craft beyond level 60 (or 55 if there's no mob mats above 45).

Darn. I think I might have to redo some of my Silan characters... I have one with Q30 weapons, armor, and jewels. (obviously not all the plans for each) I have a feeling it's all wasted being spread out that thin.

How difficult is it to reach skill level 60 in crafting on Silan? and when does the XP stop or reduce to something ridiculous?
Also, can you get medium quality plans on Silan, or are they filtered out along with ranged plans? If I can't get those, it would free up enough points to get stat bonuses, but medium quality plans would be pretty special on Silan.

*grins* Wasn't actually delaying the event because of treks, needed to because I forgot about a RL commitment, as well as needing to get certain materials in a certain season. As far as I can tell, we are a go for this weekend (the 14th of March vetween the hours of 5-7 pm EST [GMT -5 I think]). Questions anyone?

60 isn't so bad, you have Q45 with digging and Q50 with vendor mats.

Skill level 101 on the other hand is a very long and tedious grind. :o

The Agora sounds great. But EST is now GMT - 4, so heads up. ;)

Yep, that's correct. While there's a slight loss of HP with a q45 set (-15), the dung resin is certainly worth it since everything in the Kitin Jungle utilizes piercing damage. The higher grade compared to basic q50 mats off the merchant also pushes the protection factor slightly above that of Ranger armor, and the slashing absorption is comparable if you're facing a Fire & Wrath in battle.

As far as shields go, the highest-quality stuff isn't exactly necessary either. A q30 shield using fine ocyx and kirosta bits can achieve +27 parry, which will protect you much better than purely kirosta-made equivalent. With a q50 weapon (the q45 harvested fiber is not beneficial here), this setup almost gives Fire & Wrath a run for its money.

Getting crafting to 60 is feasible, but... ridiculously time-consuming and/or expensive. Unless you need extra skill points or a 51 title, I wouldn't bother since, indeed, medium quality plans seem to be filtered out.

So the moral of the story is... if you're not an alt, get yourself to the mainland. :p

A little late to be bringing this back to the top of forums, but better late than not at all.... Don't forget, craft fair at the Agora stage area in Pyr from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (EST - GMT -5 I believe)...
