And yes, I remember all of you, too.

I managed to actually get the game to run for more than a few seconds yesterday - turns out the 'Automatic' setting in the Display configuration was defaulting to OpenGL, not Direct3D. So I fixed that, but now it just hangs my PC after a few minutes of being IG. I thought it could be a heat issue, or Ryzom not liking my OC'd graphics card (as I know it doesn't) so I set it back to stock clock speeds and set my fan to run at 100%, keeping temps below 65C which is more than cool enough, especially seeing as my card hits around 70C when playing Crysis with full (DX9) graphics.

I'm confused and annoyed. Will give it another try later on today, but any suggestions people can give would be great. This is the only game that hangs my PC, but could it be a memory issue? Totally not looking forward to running a memtest *sigh* I just don't have that many hours of my life to waste! Still, if I get to see the Void and Darkmoor again, it'll all be worth it. And my own private little island, that only a handful of people know about. Oh how I wish I was back there....

actually for some unknown reason, my computer crashes faster and faster in Ryzom with ATI cards. Until i bought a Nvidia one, that is. Never had that problem ever after then.
I never really figured out what was causing it, but was really happy when it stopped...

What a coincidence, I work as a head of marketing in NVIDIA now So yeah Naturally Ryzom runs better on Nvidia

Well, I managed to get IG without a hang for about 10 minutes - I turned off EAX. But then it hung again.

Sorry Z, I can't be bothered with the stress of more debugging tonight, gonna hit the sack and leave a memtest running overnight.

I always found it was heat making ryzom crash, for some reason ryzom turns the most powerful off pc's into pressure cookers inside.
