Well LOTRO has a pretty unique source material to work from, with regard to the game itself and all they have added to it since release ..... you still cant polish a turd.
I would prefer to count varynx spots .... twice, than play LOTRO tbh

Ah yes, I had forgot to mention the Ring. Unfortunately that pretty much encapsulates the essence of it. Something that could of been truely great, but failed miserably. Also, I don't think it's the kind of thing most of us are really dieing for. (ie: Mainstream content, truly integrated on Atys.)sidusar wrote:The only new things they've given us since then are:
- Silan, which is only for new characters.
- NPC bosses, good in essence but far too small to really add something significant to the world (now maybe if they'd revamped all bosses like that...)
- Wheel, good in essence but far, far, faaaar too small to make enough difference.
- The Ring, which does qualify as a really new tool with a lot of uses, only this tool is so fragile you can hardly do anything with it without breaking it.
Yeah, I know. It's just an example of the amount of things that can be accomplished in half the time we've been waiting. =)fiach wrote:Well LOTRO has a pretty unique source material to work from, with regard to the game itself and all they have added to it since release ..... you still cant polish a turd.
Thank you for understanding.iphdrunk wrote:But I am somehow saddened that, while reading, there is a recurring pattern: everytime that someonme raises a question which (indirectly) targets old timers and their quest for continuous entertainment, our (valid, I pray!) concerns are dismissed, apparently as if we were like bored children that are unable to find ways to entertain themselves. Fortunately the original poster mentioned "add, develop or change", iirc
To suggest (again and again) that if you are bored is entirely your own fault, misses the point. All things considered, we know the issues involved in the proper development of the game, and this is why we wait. But getting the "if you are bored is time to move on" "if you are bored you are lazy" canned answer is as frustrating to me as the remark "this game needs new content for oldies" is to you.

How true; it seems that new players are so scarce, and materials/cats so superfluous, that a new arrival may find himself completely overwhelmed. And yet this remains such a feedback cycle that it really could alter these players' Ryzom experience and, ultimately, the eventual playerbase after they grind away their life on Atys.sehracii wrote:... Of course I offer this in vain.
It would never happen on a wide scale. Everyone wants the newbies in their guilds, so it'll always be an arms race to see who can dump the most "help" on new players to win the enrollment prize. ...
I find it hard to believe you call this a "turd"fiach wrote:Well LOTRO has a pretty unique source material to work from, with regard to the game itself and all they have added to it since release ..... you still cant polish a turd.
I would prefer to count varynx spots .... twice, than play LOTRO tbh(yes, I have played it, for the year Ry was down along with WoW).
