When all that people want to do is see how many masters they can get in the shortest amount of time, then Ryzom is not the game that I really want to be in.
Come goof around with me, Moonie, I still have zero masters.

I will, no matter what, just to support the game I like. But I really hope there *will* be new content - quests and story mainly.

Why worry about new content.... no one plays in the level 50 - 200 zones anyway... everyone is either on Silan or on their endgame...

It is free to play right now. Community quality will increase after subscriptions are reinstated.

it has nothing to do w/ my isp. gms have confirmed the problem is the ovh network on more than one occasion.
i understand that ryzom is in a major testing/transition stage etc an that gms will not always be around at this time. the problem is when no gms are in ceb noone can be notified that there is a problem, so nothing can be done.

i was simply pointing out that if hosting issues are not sorted before billing is up its going to cost spiderweb subs.

That's not necessarily the case, Moonie. Only one of my combat skills is anything like good enough for 250 zones - when I'm not digging I'm usually in GoU lately, or Thesos; or doing treks. Spent three hours last week running around FG looking for a pretty spot I found in December, just so I could sit. lvls are the means, not the end. :)

Do you think new owners can just reopen the billing system without a relaunch of the game? I don't think so and I hope they are not going to do this way.

The game need a relaunch, dunno how, but reopening the billing system without a relaunch of the game putting something in the basket will be a suicide.

It seems to me they are showing good attitude, at least till now, with honest announcements (well, maybe the 'paperwork' was a bit ... exaggerated, but Yumeroth promptly corrected it with another, good post, imho) and I think they will be smart enough to do the right things.

At the end, we can't do more on what we are doing now for the game. We can't force people to play a game if they feel not having fun in it. We can do, and we are trying to do all the possibile to show all the good points of Ryzom, and they are a lot, but they are not enough.
The big work is in the hands of the developers.

I will subscribe for sure.
I will subscribe even if I go play other MMOs (as already did in the past) because I need to know that I can travel to Atys anytime I want, even if I log just for doing nothing but travel with my mekky around.
Before the close of the servers i didn't realized this. I was playing Ryzom and other MMOs. When the servers closed I understood the feeling about not being able to see Atys, to stay in Atys. The feeling to meet a corpse, to rez him, to welcome him and continue my travel, is something I absolutely never found in any game.
Because the other MMOs are games, Ryzom is the nearest thing to a virtual world game (not only virtual world).
I hope the devs have the chance to improve this aspect.

Well, to avoid to kill you with other 3 pages of useless words, i stop for now :)

hehe so there's somebody else who has this problem too :)
But however don't think this changes the game itself. In a successful games there are different community poles, with different perspectives about how the game should be played. Normally in a healthy player base these layers of the community seldom come in contact, usually only for big wars, or incidental teaming in squirmishes. They all have their own pleasures and don't step on each others toes.

The grindfest is not related to free game status as you may think, it's more related to the phylosophy about the game: live or win, endulge or achieve and can find some more such opponent pairs.
Those for "live" have the big advantage that once the "acheivers" achieved enough boredom comes, game is "won" and they leave. Those for "win" have the thrill of racing through levels, it may not be my way but it's a thrill.

Apart from that there are the small number of those who play to achieve but once achievement is over they start "endulging" or "living" the game. It's also a valid approach.

However we need badly an event team active and a lore reviewed and present on official site. Don't really think this is expensive or hard to do. Can start in small steps, it's time it started already.

I have been escaping to Atys off and on for years now, since Jan 2004 if I recall correctly, and I will happily pay to keep Atys alive and wish the new team great success in their efforts to revitalize this fine game.
